One of them sportsbikes then NBD : 2019 ZX6R
Planning a return to things I love doing so booked some track time next year.
I don’t have and haven’t ridden a sports bike in years on track so decision time for a suitable bike :
2019 zx6r - known quantity easy on tyres but outclassed on every straight which could be frustrating
2018 zx10rr - expensive on tyres, prob too fast for what I want but it could be epic once used to it
2019 Ducati 959 - possible reliability issues, unknown quantity for tyre wear and has it got same issue as zx6 on the straights
2023 street triple rs - proper mandlebars but seems basically a sports bike without fairing. Assume easier on tyres could be a good laugh

Late model GSXR-750 - combining the best of a 600cc and 1000cc bike. Fast enough not to get blown away on the straights, nimble as a 600 in the corners.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Should have added I want TC as I’m old and like it otherwise it would have been on the listmangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:46 pm Late model GSXR-750 - combining the best of a 600cc and 1000cc bike. Fast enough not to get blown away on the straights, nimble as a 600 in the corners.

Re: One of them sportsbikes then
Never realised that the GSXR didn't have TC - I assumed all modern(ish) sports bikes had it...Couchy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:48 pmShould have added I want TC as I’m old and like it otherwise it would have been on the listmangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:46 pm Late model GSXR-750 - combining the best of a 600cc and 1000cc bike. Re: One of them sportsbikes then
You want a little project you do. One of the Wiltshire contingent has a scruffy old ZX10R (2006?) he's had it since new. would make a v cheap track bike and you could probably turn a few quid on it after you get bored...

Re: One of them sportsbikes then
Ducati's 959 engine (955cc Superquadro) is about the most overbuilt engine they've ever made... They will take a lot more abuse than most people think. A lad in a dealership near me used to race in the Tri Options cup on them, never had issues with the motors. Pretty good on tyre wear too as it's not too peaky nor too torquey. Takes a 180/60 rear natively anyway...Couchy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:37 pm 2019 zx6r - known quantity easy on tyres but outclassed on every straight which could be frustrating

2023 Street Triple RS will be a hoot... However, here's a leftfield shout for you... Save yourself £3k and get the RR! Yes... Seriously... A friend just bought a brand spanking new Street Triple RR for £12k... Dealerships are having to give them away as road riders don't want them. The riding position isn't quite as aggressive as an R1 or a ZX10, it reminded me very much of my old RC8 when I had a sit on one (quite roomy for a sports bike, but still a sports bike. Has the same semi-active Ohlins setup as on the Tuono V4 Factory (which is superb) and £18.5k down to £12k brand new out the door is not to be sniffed at... I was tempted myself... But then reminded myself why I sold my RC8, and that's cos I just don't get on with clip ons on the road any more.

So with a mate selling his mint 2000 mile old zx6 I'm ready to try and win the lower group before moving up to inters ;)

Nice!
Some of the most fun times I had on track were on my gixxer 6.
Whilst the litre bikes are frantically scrubbing speed off for a corner, you're still pinned.
