Re: Vote!
In the passed, I've probably voted for nearly every party, based on their promises. No lifetime allegiance here, thats for fools.
I quickly came to the conclusion, they're all full of shit and never carry out their false promises. Its a very well paid career game for the privileged few.
No vote here.

Re: Vote!
Interestingly, whilst not a predictor of success- this forum and its predecessors have been overwhelmingly in support of the Tories when these polls come up. It’s not the Labour lead that surprises me- but the swing from blue.
I’ve changed party allegiance during my lifetime. That’s the gift of informed choice. I’ve never voted Tory though.

I've generally subscribed to the view that motorcyclists are broadly small 'c' conservative.

Re: Vote!
I've always voted Labour, but quite often with a heavy heart & voting for the party that I thought would do the least damage.
I would change my allegiance if I thought another person on the ballot paper could do a better job around here & unlike some I don't detest all Tory's,Major,Hessletine & Rory Stewart seem decent people, unlike those chancers currently in power.

Ken Clarke was another Tory that I had a lot of time for.

Re: Vote!
Pretty much that^.
And yes the change of intended vote amongst the people I've known a little about since Visordown is interesting, as it's also interesting with the few who will never change.
I'm not entirely sure what conclusions to draw from it but I'll have fun trying anyway

Re: Vote!
To be clear- I’m also a fan of Rory Stewart and absolutely, not all political figurines are bastards- the party doesn’t chime with my own values though.

Re: Vote!
The only reason Farage and UKIP rose to prominence was that the two main parties were equally dismissive of people's concerns over immigration. Notwithstanding that particular argument, which I'm sure everybody has their view on, brushing off UKIPs supporters as 'swivel-eyed loons', as a certain right-wing PM did, only made him more popular. Ditto when a certain left-wing PM was asked a perfectly valid question about immigration and him labelling her 'that racist woman' in an unguarded moment.Docca wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:31 pm Talking of bastards

Gert Wilders, long dismissed as a bit weird and a frothing anti-Islamist, is now scrambling to form a collation government in the Netherlands. Bastards, as may be, but failing to address the elephant in the room, even if it is a bit stinky, having shat on the rug, only makes people look for someone, anyone, who will address their concerns.

Re: Vote!
The "elephant in the room" is 2022 net migration of 745,000 into the UK. If the establishment parties/politics fail to tackle this issue then the electorate will increasingly hold their noses and vote for those who will.gremlin wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 2:20 pmThe only reason Farage and UKIP rose to prominence was that the two main parties were equally dismissive of people's concerns over immigration. Immigration has very little affect on the lives of the rich. Nothing will change I'm afraid.

So it looks like a May election then eh.

100% agree.
Also, this I think it’s discrattionary nonsense to try and part-hide the past

I like Braverman. She seems concerned with policy rather than currying public favour or appeasing her baying colleagues! I prefer determination to ingratiation!
