Show us yer Christmas tree....
Go on. Spread some festive cheer. Share your best short-lived, festive erection, complete with a fairy on it, if that floats your boat.
(I'll have to revert, as mine are currently still residing in the loft, whilst paint is throw about all around Chez Gremlin. But watch this space, I'm told that I'm taking a trip up to the loft this weekend...)

Ours is up but I'm not there. Tis a sparser effort than previous years, mainly due to a muncher of a French Bulldog!

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
I stopped doing Christmas decorations a few years ago as no one wanted to put them up and no one wanted to put them away.
I appreciate those that make an effort, they just don't live here.

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
I really CBA with Christmas decorations/trees, but Mrs Mango has the occasional fit of enthusiasm. This has been one of those years. Our (old, fake) Xmas tree has been erected in the front room and, surprisingly enough, Wilko our cat has shown no interest in vandalising or climbing it.
I'm still hopeful for a turnround in that state of affairs.

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
For years and years we weren't home at Christmas* so we never bothered. Then for a while we used to go and select a real one and put that up in the conservatory, then we bought quite a good synthetic one and did that for a few years. Didn't bother for a couple of years and, at the moment, there are 6 rolls of loft insulation in the conservatory.
* Travelled to see family because we never lived near either side. Did spend one run up to Christmas in Singapore and Christmas Day by the pool on Penang Island. (They even laid on a Santa!).

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
Haven't fetched it from the supermarket yet. It'll be a "reasonably" big real one - we have masses of height to play with but I can't be arsed losing half the dining room to it massive branches.
Every year we have to have a new Christmas fairy - made by me. It has to be styled as a homage to a recently deceased celebrity. This year it's probably going to be Shane MacGowan.

Tree?
I wish. Last year there was something like 5 of the fucking shitters.
I used to put up and decorate one, then it started getting out of hand,so now I take no part in the bollox. Mess and tat everywhere for the next couple of months.
Bah fucking humbug.

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
It is indeed Advent, but the tree is not up and nor shall it even be purchased until 12 days before Christmas. Then the Partridge shall be unleashed and the decorations be scattered upon the branches, above the reach of a voraciously munching Cockapoo. Just don't have the energy to do anything before then. Wife stops work on 21st, so it may happen then. I've got various visits, school nativities, Holy Communion services and more to deal with. Being a Vicar is a busy life indeed. Baptism meetings and much much more. So the tree, well, it will happen, but not just yet.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

I always thought the 12 days of Xmas were Dec 25th to Jan 5th.the_priest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 4:40 pm It is indeed Advent, but the tree is not up and nor shall it even be purchased until 12 days before Christmas.

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
My lot normally do either three or four trees in our house, plus all the other decos around the fireplace etc. I absolved myself of interior decoration about 5 yrs ago, don't do any of it. I do take it all down though as everyone else would leave it until the end of Jan otherwise.
My main crimbo job is the exterior house lighting. I did this last weekend, took my over 6 hours in total!!
I was up and down the ladder so many times, I couldn't sit down the next day as my arse muscles were killing me, they thought I'd been to the gym and went into shock I think

Re: Show us yer Christmas tree....
I love Christmas and all the decs. But the last few years with limited movement of the dominant arm it just got too difficult. Add in the exceptionally small space and me being pretty bloody miserable and you get - no decs!!
But I do pan to do some stuff this year. I never do it till the coming weekend, but might have to wait a bit longer for a mate to come and help me (or my nephew and his girlfriend to help me!!)
But in my first year of living here permanently I made a 'flat' tree for the wall as no space for a standing jobbie. But, I've used all the wall space now, so I'm lending that to the friend that might come up and help me!!
But I've got some sparkly stuff, so I'll chuck that over some stuff somewhere and be more christmassy that last year
