Re: 60 Hours around the Country
So this was done at an average speed of 18.3 mph (1,100 miles ÷ 60 hours), with seven riders.
Not much to crow about really (or have I missed something?)

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
Lad I know called Ben Grayson, who owns the dealership (The Bike Sanctuary and used to run H-G in Braintree), took part in the ride - bit of a cold one apparently!
Was more about proving an EV bike over those distances and in that climate, nice bit of publicity for his dealership and Zero too.

Does sound like a bit of pointless back slapping

The fact that most of the ride was in snow and ice?

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
So that's actually 5 and a bit thousand miles per bike in 168 hours on a closed circuit in a tad under three times as many hours. I'm not saying it's not a ruddy impressive achievement for 50cc bikes, but let's make the comparison honest. From what I hear of the conditions on the A1 north to Newcastle I doubt they got much over 10 mph all the way!Demannu wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:13 pm Does sound like a bit of pointless back slapping

Comparing it to a closed circuit lap record is silly.

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
I didn't hear that... no-one hurt I hope. I'm assuming slow-speed tip-offs in the snow?

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
Perhaps the Motor Cycle Industry should have accompanied the article with photos of the bikes riding in the snow. Looks like a normal winters day ride in their photos.

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
I'd like to have a few more details on how often they charged; how often they had to backtrack, or go off-route to look for a charger that was working, and how much time that lost them; and also what was the ratio of riding time to charging time?
But I guess that will all (not) be revealed in the next issue of BIKE?

Re: 60 Hours around the Country
If they had done it with a single bike I night have ben impressed but having one charging while the other is running seems like they are trying to hide something.

The two bikes were both ridden at the same time.

Follow a shop called 'The Bike Sanctuary' on FartBook, then message the boss Ben or one of the grafters - he posted a fair bit about it.....Rockburner wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:35 pm I'd like to have a few more details on how often they charged; how often they had to backtrack, or go off-route to look for a charger that was working, and how much time that lost them; and also what was the ratio of riding time to charging time?
