The BBC license fee is to go up by £15. Will you keep paying it, or do you not anyway? I pay it, but I kinda resent doing so...

It's just over a quid a month, I doubt I'd have noticed it if it hadn't made the news.

Yeah. I get that value out of the radio, the web site and i-Player, never mind the live stuff. No adverts too.

I dislike paying it because I don't watch or listen to the BBC, but being a law abidding person, I will pay it.

Time the licence fee was dropped. BBC TV already has loads of ads, it is just they all advertise BBC stuff.
BBC TV News seem to find it necessary to send people (with a crew obviously) just to stand somewhere and repeat what the studio person has just said. They obviously have far too much money.
As for the stupid money they pay 'talent'......

Not 3 or 4 times an hour for (what feels like) 5 minutes at a time they don't.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:48 pm Time the licence fee was dropped. BBC TV already has loads of ads, it is just they all advertise BBC stuff.
I tried watching something on Sky Arts recently. Watching Pink Floyd was like the old 8 track days only with adverts where the player used to go 'click whirrr'. I'll stick with BBC4 thanks v much.

If it was left to me I'd not pay it,as I don't really watch anything they offer and I abhor their general stance/policies,but Mrs.Skub is a very law abiding citizen,so it'll be paid.

I'd rather they just sack Lineker instead.

So no real way out of it then! I rarely watch BBC and would opt out if I could, but looks like i'm stuck with it.Felix wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:52 pmIf you dont watch/record live TV then sack it

It is a gravy train for mediocre twats who are way too full of themselves. But a small proportion of the content is pretty decent so I'll keep paying the fee.

Re: BBC license fee to go up by £15. Will you keep paying it?
After not watching my TV for five years I got rid of it and contacted the BBC to cancel my licence. They asked me to send a declaration saying that I did not have a TV and that I wouldn't watch live TV or any streaming services. They also said that I didn't need a radio licence at all, so I'm free to tune into BBC radio.
I emailed them my declaration and had a couple of months of peace and then they started sending me a series of threatening letters saying that they were coming round and I could be fined etc. I contacted them again to complain about the letters and said that I found them harassing. They asked me to send another declaration exactly the same as the first one, which I did and the letters stopped.
I've not signed into the BBC iPlayer since and I don't watch "streaming" tv but that brings into question - what is live TV and why does the BBC have any rights over it? I've been told that some streaming services have a deliberate delay so they are not live. FWIW the King's coronation was streamed on the BBC and could be viewed without signing into the iplayer but don't ask me how I know that.

I got my first licence fee red letter for the new address yesterday. It'll be useful for lighting the fire.
