I don't get it... i really don't. Why give up all chance of a championship for a few quid extra.... even if it's £2m vs £1m from Yamaha.... it's still... enough isn't it ?

I’m sure there is method in the madness. He has expressed that he wants a challenge, not sure if the word impossible was in there but definitely seen challenge.

Oh I dunno. Is he in with a chance of a championship up against someone that weighs about 30gm? + it's a short career...money in the bank etc. Maybe BMW have convinced him they have real ambitions and a development budget to match. Everyone thought Hamilton was bonkers to do the switch he did but that worked out quite well for a while.

On current form I'd have said that getting the Yam to win a championship (or even a decent number of races) would be challenge enough for anybody.

So all I can see is a pension-stuffing move to BMW for unfeasible amounts of wonga.

Me neither ….. it’s not like BMW have a presence in MotoGP apart from the safety car and they have been very clear they have no intention to join the MotoGP paddock.

Scott was competitive on the Ducati and running at the front then dropped rapidly on joining BMW. Micky has done the same but also had loads of injuries from possibly over riding the bike and getting bitten.

We will see what next season brings but I doubt it’s a championship

I don't think Toprak wants to go to Motogp. He's had a go on a bike and understands it's going to take time to be up with the fast boys, plus he's said the WSBK paddock is a lot more friendly than GPs. He'll earn more money staying in WSBK than Motogp. His mentor will doubtless have coloured that stance.

It's even possible he may gel with the beemer and make it give results. He's a better rider than any BMW have had to date,so if they can't put a bike under Toprak, they are fucked.

Genuine LOL.

But he's still young, talented and hungry.
He's 30.
In WSB that's young.

I'm surprised there's no rumours of where he's going next.

Choice of good bike or good pay ;)

If you haven't already seen the interview that article quotes it's worth a watch. He sounded a lot less convincing than the quotes suggest. Here you go:

There's no denying Iannone's talent as a rider, but he always did blow hot and cold. A big risk for a team,as he'll not come cheap,I'm sure.

I doubt with his past record of lunacy and coming from a drugs ban he'll be in any strong bargaining position. He might ask for a big cheque but there wont be a bidding war for his signature and he will get whatever team risks him (if any) are prepared to pay

Sounds positive, interesting that he reckons the Beemer has a noticeable amount of more go than the Yam.

Here's hoping Toprak gets a feel for the beemer. We saw how Redding went from a contender to shaking his head every lap,we don't need Toprak languishing in the top ten while Bau Bau runs off at the front for another season.
