As long as exhaust isn't marked 'Not for road use' then is doesn't matter if it doesn't have a BS mark, it's all down to the MOT testers opinion.

My Enfield has a mad loud exhaust... but I bought the bike, with the exhaust fitted from the man who MOT's my bikes. He knows I'm not the Ministry Secret Shopper, so it always passes.

Shortly after buying the Falco I obtained a pair of Akra cans from a guy on the Ridersite forum. They had a slight dent on one of the cans and had 'not for highway use' or some such stencilled on the rivetted stainless straps holding the end can on. A friend of mine English wheeled the dent out and simply reversed the band (leaving the stencilled surface in contact with the can) and re-rivetted it. Job jobbed. They were very loud and my MoT man was not a happy chappie, so I fitted some db killers and (relative) peace was restored.

The major improvement with the Akras was massive weight loss over the standard cans, and greatly improved appearance. The fruitier sound was just a bonus.

I'm assuming that the MOT tester couldn't translate "Riservato Competizioni" but it helps that they're also stamped Moto Guzzi

Over here you need to have a fitting certificate for an approved aftermarket can. This detail is then entered onto the build certificate for your bike, so you can get it MOT'd. It's a ballache, so few bikes here have aftermarket end cans. And even then, its mostly scooters with Akro's.

The police know when they pull you if you can is legally fitted or not. Can't just slap on an endcan, then put the original back at ITV time.

I received a €200 fine on Wednesday. Took the Post Office here 40 days to get the notification to me, so way past the 21 days.
Was sure I was nowhere near where they said the offence occurred. Clicked on the link for the photo, and it clearly shows a scooter with the plate ending ***3. My bike ends ***9.

Now tye fun of telling them they made an error. Not easy as it took me a couple of hours to track down an email address for the relevant Town Hall department.

Someone was riding around on anther red nc750x and had cloned the plate off of my one. I got a ticket through and the photo showed it clearly wasnt me, my bike or had i been anywhere near the place in south London. I disputed the ticket and had to supply multiple photos of my bike and be prepared to get my employer to verify i was in work that day. I said I thought you had to prove my guilt not me prove my innocence. Plod said we have proved your guilt with a picture of you on your bike committing the offense. If you say it isn't you then you have to prove it!

Years ago when I was using my Ducati 888 on the road I got a parking ticket for the registration number of the bike, but for a Volkswagen Golf in Glasgow. I lived in Stafford at the time. It wasn't too difficult to prove I wasn't the culprit...

Isn't that the major reason most speed cameras are front facing? So they get a pic of your face?

I live in Spain. Some motoring laws are set by the Comunitat you live in, and so not nationwide.

If the fine is coming via the town hall you need to sort out your SUMA details. I got a parking ticket in Elche, an email from Monovar (that's my town hall), logged onto the SUMA site and paid it.
