Friday thread...the ding dong it's December one

Post by weeksy »

1st Dec... it's bloody cold out there (for most of us)

Fri. WFH then Indian Take-Away and a couple of beers.
Sat. Usual early drive to FoD then a day with @Couchy and my lad riding like crazies.
Sun. Race day.. 75 in his field for this one, massive class.. lets see what the weekend brings.

Dunno, but it's December now so I can remove my self imposed restriction on eating mince pies.

Ain't got much further than that.

Today will be a lovely half day cruise on the ferry and then home to unload the van.
Tomorrow is back to the shed, yay.

Snowing here too.

Armageddon - road closures, rail services suspended, panic buying of bog rolls and bread.

I'm working from home today.

It's -2 outside so my wife has decided to take my car, the one with heated everything and every conceivable safety system to work rather than her 300+bhp rear wheel drive convertible.

I've got a feeling I might end up driving her car to work for the next four months.

I'm currently in Malta - our near-shore office is out here, so I come here a fair bit - I usually fly home on a Thursday, but for various reasons needed to be here all day yesterday, so am flying home tonight instead.

I've decided I'm having a day off and going for a mooch about to enjoy the sun before getting back and freezing to death tonight

Tomorrow will involve a lie in, long walk with the hound, then I'm going to see a mate for dinner.

Sunday helping at a Christmas fair thing in the village.

Should have booked a long weekend here tbh. ☀️

Tonight - Studio, takeaway, cider

Sat - Fuck all

Sun - Cooking a roast for the parents. Attempting honey roast carrots this week.

Today - WFH as usual, few Teams calls and announcement that I'm picking up my bosses workload in the interim as he's moving to another project. Got an eye test in the middle of the day to factor in too, then off out tonight for food and vino with a group of friends.

Sat - Recovery, then start prepping H,S&L (Remove 3 radiators, numerous light switches, plug sockets, lights and smoke alarm's!) for the decorators on Monday

Sun - Chill hopefully.....

Friday, day off today, dentists visit for a check up and clean later. Dog walk.
Sat, 12hr day at work, rail strikes on so may ride the EMTB to work and back or I could take the ZH2 but they've gritted the roads and its clean.
Sun, day off (possibly), if so going see one of Mrs M's friends and her partner who has rapid onset dementia and has apparently taken a turn for the worse in the last few months.......or if my colleague is still sick I'm doing a 12hr day at work and debating whether or not its motorbike or EMTB to work and back.

I am going to get the last bit of sorting "stuff" done this weekend. Three piles - one for keeps, one for storage, one for tip. The sale of my Mum's house is due to complete before Christmas and all I'll have to do once we have a date is get those piles moved.

Out for Mrs. G's company's Christmas do. Only 7 of us but a good crowd. Nice meal then home.

Up Saturday morning though I doubt gym will happen. Out again on Saturday night up in Wapping to meet up with old friends in an old-school Italian restaurant. Had a few drop outs with illness and travel disruption but should be good.

Sunday, no idea. Long dog walk with friends, maybe.

Friday: Up at 5am. Son required lift to the rail station. Took the recycling out. Got home, gave wife coffee, then took her to the station at 7.15am. Then swept the leaves on the driveway and entrance so it was not slippery, stuck them in the garden waste bin and put that out for collection by 8.15am. Then swept the leaves up in the garden as well, collected 4 large piles which the son will put into the bin for me. I'm not bending down for that now, back is feeling tender after all that exercise!

Worked on sermon for Sunday. Was supposed to collect wife from school at 1pm, but a crash on the A2 has closed the motorway, so she is taking train home.

I've received the post, being charged by Octopus Energy when I am with EDF? And I'm being billed by EDF for the same period.

Saturday. My licensing and Installation service at 3pm St Botolph's Northfleet. Then nibbles and drinks afterwards.

Sunday. Take two services in "my" churches, St Botolph's at 9.30am Christingle Eucharist and 11.15am at St Mark's Eucharist. Sunday evening, crash and sleep!

Day of fuck all amongst many as I finished work for the year on 10th November*, just awaiting contract and start date for new role, which will potentially be either 2nd, 8th or 15th January. I know I’m due to be on a course from 15th for 5 days in the midlands. As I’m officially a house husband for the next few weeks, I’ve unloaded and loaded the dishwasher, put two loads of washing on and pottered around.

Tomorrow, out with daughters and respective boyfriends to celebrate daughters’ birthday on 16th, one will be in Oz and the other is in Iceland on actual birthday. They’ve picked some steakhouse where they’ll keep loading your plate while you show a green card :?: No doubt there will be a couple of beers going down

Sunday, recovery, sorting my overnight bag for a trip down south to see ailing father later in the week for a few days.

* a company restructure kindly made me surplus to requirements whilst already seeking another role. New role should commence just after end of previous contract which means I get to trouser 16 weeks pay plus some PILON benefits

Today I worked this morning and met some friends in the cafe across the road - she's just started doing lunches again :D Then met a girl I swapped numbers with last year (English working for a ski school here), apparently my number didn't work?? :o Anyway, when my friends left I sat and chatted with Jackie for an hour or so. Then came home and will do some sorting out of stuff, then chill. It's been swapping between rain and snow all day, but hopefully it's now just snowing and will stay that way for the next 5 months!!

Tomorrow, hopefully borrowing a car to go to the valley to pick up a couple of things, drop of some post for the uk (a friend is flying back so offered to post them!) and see my pasty shop mate!! Work in the afternoon. Crossing fingers for more snow!

Sunday, no plans so far. If its sunny I'll be hoping there's a piste or two made so that I can go ski touring!! Might make some pastry for the freezer - then I only have to defrost and put things together to make bakewells or mince pies, much more simple!!

Basically just hoping for lots and lots more snow! If conditions are good, then the resort is having a pre season open weekend 9/10 Dec!! LOL Sadly, I'll be starting on winter hours this week, so working next weekend :( :(
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

Friday night is (home-made) pizza night in our gaff. So in addition to the pizza (and seeing as it's my birthday) I've hooked a Bit Special bottle of Red out of the cellar and it's currently coming up to temperature and 'breathing'. It's from a local (S of F) vigneron and it's one of only 2500 bottles released, and is 90% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and is a hommage to the winemaker's (deceased) father. Rather looking forward to that...
