I didn't find them pretentious. Loud, yes (very).
Jaz Coleman became a bit odd but Walker seemed like a 'solid' sort of chap.
Later stuff got a bit 'meaningful' I suppose.
Funnily enough I worked with a bloke who was their manager in the early days (Tony Bidgood - I think he managed The Stray Cats too). He was one of our admin staff. He wasn't pretentious either.

Wow...I'd have guessed Kissinger died in the 90s! Had no idea he was (until very recently) still about.

Seen them several times and when they were good they were awesome but remember a couple of poor performances (Reading Festival was the worst) where SM couldn't stand up on his own due to drink, the boys dumped him in a corner and carried on.
Personal favourite of mine is Young Ned of the hill, one of many fantastic songs they did.

Just saw a pic of him in his hospital bed, trying to smile for the camera. Doesn't look like it ended well!

I am amazed that McGowan made it past 33 - let alone getting to 65.
Even more amazed his liver lasted with him

Ah fuckit. I liked the old Shane boyo. He and Ronnie Drew and Bap Kennedy all worked hard at the drink and there's only one winner.
