Maybe. Although it would be a waste of the banana swingarm. I have been assuming that the general trend towards short exhausts was due to mass-centralisation of the heavy exhaust silencer/cat required to meet emmisions/noise regs.
When I replaced the high level twin cans on my street triple with an arrow low system, it noticably improved the handling...

Plus the cat has to get hot to work properly, which is much easier to achieve with short pipework.

I have all but decided to sell my triumph and buy one of these before next spring. Looks like Yamaha have sorted the throttle response compared to the MT-09 but have you considered, or felt the need for a reflash? It seems like a fairly popular mod on the 'FZ09' forum...?
Well, today is the first dry start to the day i've seen in nearly a month.
The forecast is for dry and proper chilly, which makes me happy because i'm going to take the XSR out.... but sad because i know it won't be for that long as my hands will freeze !!! Max of 10 deg will mean i'm likely to be chilly that's for certain.
I'll give it till midday to get as warm as it can and get rid of any leftover frost... but i think this may possibly be the only chance i have now till spring so planning on giving it a whirl later.

Agree, but i guess i've always disliked the thoughts of cables running front to back and routed everywhere and potentially splicing into the wiring etc. The KTM grips went to a connector at the back of the headlight which i really like the idea of and worked well, but were a bit 'fat' as far as feel goes... Although no worse than winter gloves i guess.
Tricky one as i like standard grips, but i like warm hands... We've had these discussions before and heated grips won.

3 miles, the roads are absolute garbage. Damp, leaves, bleuuurgh. Just not very nice out there at all.
I did exactly the same as you. Dry but cold day defo taking the bike out.
Till on twitter last night Herts Highways state that as road temps are near 0 they will be salting from 7pm Thought I'd check the roads when walking the kids to school. Absolutely covered in salt. Bugger. Not even that cold, but that's my riding year finished.

I used to have to ride to work in all and any weather, regularly in the snow and rain during winter - and back then we didn't have decent waterproofs - so I'd ride to work, get soaked, spend all day working on a building site in wet clothes and then ride home.
We used to live in t'middle o' t'road in a shoe box.

Well, it was wiped down this morning, then using a rag soaked with ACF-50 was given some love to the metal bits that may corrode over time. It's now under the cover and sitting there till spring.
Due to CV19 lockdown and having the broken hand for 8 weeks, i don't really feel i got the most out of this year on it.

How's the hand nowadays ?
Not sure yet. I had a CT scan yesterday as the X-ray showed it still wasn't healed fully. If i were pushed to answer i'd say it's still not fully healed, but it's far from terrible. So waiting to see what comes next from the CT scan.
