We're now at the end of day two, he knows what the problem is, I know what the problems is, he wants to go home, I want the sliding doors done properly. He doesn't know when he'll be able to come back, I don't want to have to have to take it all apart and start again.

And none will until it's sorted, he's coming on Sunday to start again. He's a decent bloke and I've seen some of his previous work and it's fine. He's also aware that you're only as good as your last job. He works solely for the English out here, bad news spreads fast and a bad job would mean his work drying up.

Got my new card on Monday, this morning I see another debit for Deliveroo for around £30. FFS.

Called Barclays again who were pretty good but equally as baffled as it's a new card and I'd only got around to adding it to Amazon for the Kindle and putting it on Wallet.
New card cancelled and another one on the way. Bizarre.

If it happens again I'll raise a complaint then they'll need to do a bit more investigation, even if it is for a piddly amount.

I don't get the special paranoia about Temu, it's probably not as risky as many of the other hundreds of websites you'll find through Google.
I suspect it's a campaign by one of their competitors.

Wifey just booked some Ryanair flights, closed the confirmation window without making a note of the confirmation number and before recieving a confirmation email. An hour later, still no confirmation email, log onto Ryanair which shows nothing so I'm looking through her browser history to see if there's anything in there, she used an incognito window FFS. The only proof of booking we've got is 83.88 euros deducted from my Wise card.

Today's moan is Spanish banks. The theiving bastards have decided to charge an 18 euro admin fee for Revolut transfers, on top of the other charges they like to use. I think I'm going to move the standing orders across to Wise and close the account.

To follow up with the rest of current open whinges, wifey called Ryanair about her fucked up booking and got told to call back tomorrow.

The useless chippy came back this morning for day 4 of the 1 day job, he finally finished at 1pm. He was on a price for the job, if he was on a day rate he wouldn't have made it back for day 2.

Renewal came through today, which is £1000 up on last years (about an 85% increase). I can only assume this is because I (as legally bound) reported the theft of the Puch from the workshop (even thought it wasn't anything I could make an actual claim for because B&C doesn't cover motorised vehicles).

So - off to try to find an alternative, GoCompare and CompareTheMarket are obviously dead ends (even though they now claim to support searching for quotes for thatched/listeds), and even the specialist broker I found couldn't do any thing because i'm somewhat unsure of the chimney heights (this wasn't even mentioned when I took out the current policy IIRC) and the rebuild cost (which ought to be in the survey from 2 years ago, but I'll be buggered if I can find it).

He just banked whatever it would have cost each year against the chance he'd need it but, I guess, he (being a bit well-to-do etc) didn't have a mortgage. He took the view, in the unlikely event it burns down, I'll sell the land. If nothing happens for a few years, I've money in the bank).

Back in 2010 I wanted travel insurance to come here (Turkey) for a month or so - a chemo break for the wife and a bit of sun. I was doing the on-line stuff with Insure and Go, we'd used them many times before and they were fine for our needs. But then I came onto a page which started off "We don't insure people with a terminal illness."

I stopped filling in pages of stuff and told the wife that we'd probably be travelling without insurance. Then the phone rang and it was a lad from Insure and Go. "You stopped the on-line application." he says. I explained why and also explained that we wanted insurance for lost cases etc and in no way would be looking for medical cover for the wife. He asked some questions, I answered them truthfully and he said "That's all OK, I'm doing your policy now. Is £27 OK?"

A few months later we were going to have a second chemo break so I just phoned I&G up, explained the situation and got insured again fo another £27.

Exactly the same. I'm hardly going to need an air ambulance because I'm pissing every half hour....

I'm sure that if it had come to it I could have spoken to a real human and got a policy exempting any claim related to BPH, but as it was, the eventual policy I got wasn't that bad as they threw in gadget cover (presumably on the basis that anybody with BPH is hardly likely to be carrying the latest iPhone) and gave a year's cover for a few quid more (maybe on the premise that I'm likely to croak before the next holiday).

When the fuel light pings on in my Duster, the range says i have about 70 miles left. Over 10-15 miles this drops to zero. But the car still has fuel. If the range prediction isn't accurate, why bother installing it ??

Ours drops from 200 Kms to 50 in 20 km.
Then to zero 20 kms further.
We're used to it.
