I reckon most would be a lot slower on that then they would on an old ratty 600.
I did quite well on my TZR250 V-twin but that's only really because the majority of everyone else here were blokes who found themselves with some spare money and decided to give motorcycling a try, then bought superbikes and couldn't ride them.

For my grand I'm sticking with your old CB600, it's sat in my garage loved but unridden for almost a year - a kiwi bloke knocked on the door the other day very keen to buy it, but I think it's a keeper and will be coming back to the UK with me when I eventually come home.
