Re: Vegas F1..
In about 1998 I worked for McAfee and they had mega Xmas parties.
That year was at Williams HQ. We got a personal tour of the 40 ish winning cars.
You could 'feel' the atmosphere.
Prost, Senna, Mansell, Hill etc. Wow.
Then we got a go in the simulator.
That's summat that you can't buy. Well, you know what I mean

Re: Vegas F1..
Lockheed decided that as my (now) ex was going to be writing flight control & other software for U2s then it would be a good idea to stick her in the sim.
"Have you flown an aircraft before?"
*Yup*
They gave her a week to read up on it & had a pilot give her some pointers.
So off she went... even managed to land it.
Turns out she was the first person to fly the sim without rolling it into a ball or leave it in a smoking crater on the first try.
Then she was asked about her actual flight experience... "I've got 30 minutes in a Cessna 150 & 10 minutes of stick time in a T6..."
...awkward silence....

Opposite sides should add up to 7. On one you can see both 4 and 3....which is

Re: Vegas F1..
In 50/50 on this TBF (not on the floor coming up aspects though ).
The whole 'show' aspect does make my teeth itch somewhat, but then realistically what exactly do Marlboro, Rothmans, JPS and latterly Red Bull actually have to do with F1, other than pumping the cash in?
Gotta love a red/white chevron McLaren though none the less.
S'not just an F1 thing though is it? Hence Saudi Football leagues et al.

Re: Vegas F1..
Ha!
No spoilers, but the as a clue the BBC have this to say...
...the spectacle its bosses had hoped for when they invested upwards of £500m - including building a pit building on a plot of land the sport bought in the centre of the Nevada city.
The investment - which will take in the region of three years to be repaid - already proved worthwhile as the drivers staged arguably the best race of the season...

Re: Vegas F1..
Not as terrible as I was expecting, for a street race is was rather good, which in my book puts it about average.

Re: Vegas F1..
The dodgy track surface, (dusty and cold: 14 degrees?) , levelled the field quite a bit and provided some unexpected issues which made the race interesting. Without that factor it would have been an absolute procession and a complete waste of time.
