I'm the opposite! I'm only in it for the cash and really only do the ones with cash alternatives, or a big cash prize.That sid I'd keep a motorhome. We was actually talking about this at work yesterday. My colleague loves supercars and enters the competitions for those only. I've tried to explain that even if he wins it'd bankrupt him trying to run one, but he says he'd run it until it went wrong then ebay it as salvage if needed!

I suspect even the insurance on a supercar would bankrupt many people, if they can get insured at all

One of the employee scheme cars at work is £85k to buy normally, but there was a very brief period when you could have bagged one for 18 months at £400pcm.

Several of my colleagues started the application but quickly withdrew it when they realised what the insurance was like. And that's "only" 85k.
