The fact that Britain is an island basically reachable only by sea means that migrants can't be turned back in the same way as they can be in many EU countries when they're trying to cross land borders. Are you aware that Schengen borders are closing everywhere to try to control migration?

The fact we're an island is what's keeping migration to numbers that are a lot less than the rest of Europe are currently enjoying.

Our island is at the far end of the transit route.

A lot more choose to settle in France, Germany and Scandinavia than do in the UK.

IMO a simple move such as a majority of the country refusing to pay their tax could force change, as they wouldn't have any money to run the country!

The majority of the country pay tax via PAYE. They can't "refuse to pay their tax". Then there is VAT, IHT, Fuel duty, etc. Can't refuse to pay them either.

Well, this is what I've been struggling with over the last few years, how do I help to create the UK that I want to live in, particularly when most people seem not to care, they don't even care about their own circumstances enough to do much about their own lives, so they certainly don't care enough to help make a better country.

My recent conclusion is to look after myself and my family, try to create my own little microcosm where we can live how we want to and try to limit the impacts of anyone else's bullshit affecting my life.

I help people where I can, and to be fair I do this frequently, but I don't think I can change very much on any sort of scale, so I'll take the view to look after me and mine and try to insulate us from life's vicissitudes as best I can.

I don't think 'changing the system' is a practical option at the moment, except in a negative way. I am sure that rent-a-mob could be stirred up for some things, but they are always the wrong things, and getting a crowd to focus on the right things would be near impossible. So time to be selfish and look after me and mine.

One day the time may be ripe for drastic change, but it won't be in my lifetime.

Is a fair point. As long as you have the cash, (or are prepared to live with credit debt), you're relatively free to live how you like (within reason)

You can i can't, i can;t afford to do hardly any of that. I wont be having a holiday next year! I've been in full time employment since i was 17!

My whole month is budgeting on what i can eat, i have to eat boring unhealthy crap a lot of the time as i don't have the money to have options, many are in worse situations then me though of course.

You might need to take a step back and stop thinking about things from your own perspective and start thinking how other people might have to live.

The thing i hate the most is that the disparity between rich and poor is now so vast and is only increasing, made worse by rich powerful people coming on the TV telling us that we don't have any money (due to some made up excuse) and we need to spend spend spend to boost the econemy when they themselves are the ones hoarding all the money, it's a fucking joke and we are all being taking for fools!

Work a 2nd job. Do higher level qualifications and get a higher paid job. 2 massively simple things as a start point. But you (like me/most) won't do that. Potter is an advocate of both and i struggle to argue with him in a way, but even if you went out delivering pizza Fri/Sat/Sun it'd give you £150 a week more, £600 a month, think what you could do with an extra £600 a month...
