I do think Ktm parameters on flashing up fault codes is very tight.. Have you added any auxiliaries that might pull power off a fraction, this could be enough to show code..its shouldn't but it might. Some bikes do seem to like 100% on cold start.

A couple of things, heated grips being one, but we've tried it with them disconnected and still get the same issue.

They don't appear to be anything special in terms of technology, but in my experience really do live up to the claims- I've been through loads of batteries on my 525 over the years, various manufacturers,- my go-to default used to be Yuasa but this one is by far the best I've ever tried. Still cranks it faster and for longer than anything else I've tried, and its been on there a good 4 years so far

Indeed, a little bit. I thought the last big battery had sorted things as i went 3 rides and even 10 days between a start without any issues, but then it started again. So i'm not really sure on another plan now. If this battery doesn't help i have 3 options

1. Forget it and live with it, it doesn't affect the bike
2. Give it to KTM over summer
3. Get a new 790 for £6999

The price on the 790s to clear stock is absolutely brilliant. But sadly, due to how it was funded, i'll end up dropping £1500 on it in charges/payments etc, which really won't sit well with me, especially as i absolutely love the 690. If i'm honest, i love it more than i ever would/could a 790. But that said, the 790 has cool toys and a metal tank...

In honesty, i'm torn. I'm really hoping the battery resolves it compleltely... But even if not, i can't see me getting rid of the 690.

Either way, the dealer is closed for the forseeable future anyway to this is all just bollox talk for now :)

So just for entertainment i thought i'd video it for you.

Battery before putting the ignition was 12.97

With ignition on it's about 12.2 according to the vid.

no error :D :P

Such a weird problem. From what you’ve posted before you seem to have a great relationship with your dealer so I’m sure they will sort it one way or another.
I’m surprised you’re looking at 790’s though😀 Thought you would be tempted by the 890.

It was just getting to me... I still think a 790 would be a mistake :)

Keep the 690 and live with the odd error message - it adds Character! :)

I am, honest :)

I'll see what the new battery from Trickys guys reads and does today when it arrives. Couchie thought when it does the error i needed to turn it on/off and restart or the error doesn't go away. When i told him "it just flashes up for a fraction of a second, but you just get on and ride" he then told me to stop being a dick and get on with it... Either he's changed or i'm being too fussy :) lol

I wouldn't be too bothered about that. It's just the initial drain on start up and the sensor seeing a the drop. Once started all good. 👍

I'm still struggling slightly with it in that context because it arguably shouldn't do it... but yes, it's minor.

I've got the new battery and the KTM one charged and showing 13.45-13.50 each, but they're now dropping to whatever their level will be. I'll see which has the best residual overnight and try both tomorrow morning. See which i'm happiest with.

Just had an email from dealer

I could go into more detail, but basically, "we'll sort it, don't worry."

Obviously they're closed until the end of the zombie apocalypse, but after that we'll go see em :)

I gave both a charge and left overnight.

The Enduroline is actually showing higher than the KTM one.

13.04 against 13.01

Sure, there's not much in it... but i'll certainly chuck it in and try it once people are awake in the houses locally :)

So the Enduroline even after a night of charging throws the error every time.

The KTM battery on fully charged still is the only one that doesn't put the error up.
