I had a GPZ600R, it's predecessor. It was shit (but then I did only pay £650 for it).
It's all about perspective isn't it.
In 85, the 'best' car you could buy was a ferrari 288 GTO, which cost the best part of Barnsley!
Gf brother had a gpz6, and compared to my mk2 Z1000ST, it was Brill, likewise the gpx, local dealer counter boy got one of the first in the country, again, a step forward from the gpz.
Compare either to a 2000 cbr6, and suddenly not so good.

I quite liked the GPZ600R but was a strange riding position as i felt you sat "in it" rather than on it in comparison to everything else i had ridden before it. It was tiny in comparison to the barge like GPZ1000RX which was a bastard to turn quickly. The 900R was a better bike IMHO.

There's a decent explanation on YouTube for the reason of the insane looking body positions of modern Gp riders as per Jorge above. It's not so much about moving the rider weight so the bike can remain as upright as possible, but more that the riders are counteracting the negative impacts created by the aero in the corners.
Possibly everyone else already knows this but it was news to me and quite interesting.

I'm guessing it is this one

As it happens, I was wondering about this not that long ago - it was pretty obvious that as the wing angle changes, so does the aerodynamic force - that's why planes don't (usually) bank at 90 degrees, since there's no longer any lift from the wing holding the plane in the sky. There's a B52 crash which happens just like this when an experienced pilot tries a too-steeply banked turn at low altitude - the plane simply noses down into the ground.

Aha. How do planes fly upside down?
