Why would i run for MP only to get appointed then told by the political overlords what to do with my time in office?

Any radical changes would be shot down by them.

It's probably better to look for evidence that she isn't mad.
Good luck :D
Or i could just believe what i think is fact and ignore all the others who have been led blindly into the abyss for decades without change. Nothing changes, i am amazed some are still thinking that voting and a change of gov will make any difference what so ever!

It's like groundhog day where the day just repeats itself to infinity, and people continue to make all the same mistakes over and over and over using the same failing system over and over and over and then when things don't change again people start moaning, then do the same over and over again as they think it will bring change! It fascinates me tbh!

Though i would love to be proved wrong.

How exactly do you think these 'overlords' have power? They can't make any laws, enact policies, they can't create taxes or spend money. All they can do is influence politicians to do stuff, it's the politicians who have the mechanisms to actually do that stuff, all these supposed overlords can (hypothetically) do is tell the politicians what they want.

If parliament was filled entirely with independent MPs who only listened to what their constituents wanted then the overlords would have no power. If all the voters only voted for MPs based on their policies it wouldn't matter what the people behind the scenes tried to do.

They'd need to install nets to catch all the pigs flying about and getting in the way though.

But people aren't engaged in politics, they can't even tell you who their MP is or what they do. The can't tell you how an idea becomes policy. They just have vague complaints about "the man".

And now, somehow that's the politicians fault entirely. Like I said, you get the politicians you deserve :D

Why do you believe we get the politics we deserve? Who says what we deserve?

With that way of thinking the gov could set policies that relay to us that we all should be happy to live a life paying our taxes going to work and never actually having anytime to live, is that not communism?

The overlord thing is quite a simple premise to grasp if you open your mind a bit. If a politician was appointed into a role they would have people overseeing their work, policies will need to be passed in the commons and there are those so powerful at the top that have the final say, they are actively stopping change happening, they will not let their little bubble of greed and control be changed or altered in anyway that will affect their power and control over the masses.

Democracy in this country has gone, this is not democracy anymore it is a soft version of communism that will be enforced and enforced over and over again by the ones controlling the political masses until we as a nation stand up against this oppression.

The French wouldn't stand for shit....

There you go! You got it! :D

The mechanism to do this already exists, you're just not using it. Hence the 'deserve' comment.

You can only protest so far, sooner or later someone has to take over from the person you've kicked out.

Who says what we deserve, who makes that decision?

Which mechanism exists as to where i can be part of a positive change to the country if my vote doesn't count for anything and where all the parties are as bad as the other?

Do you think the lack of any viable party to vote for is a coincidence or do you think this has been many years in the making?

I think it's been many years in the making and I think it's our fault.

Politicians are just people at the end of the day, people enter politics and they get voted in/out. The pool of people and that voting is all just you and me, there's no overarching outside control on it. If you don't care about and don't get involved in politics you get shit politicians - that's just how it works.

Nobody makes the decision about who deserves what politicians, other than the people who vote 'em in. I.e. us.

Your vote doesn't count because you don't use it. That's why nobody does anything for you - why would they? You're not gonna vote 'em out so they can ignore you. "you" is millions of people.

TAlk to your mates, get them to vote the way that you all agree on, and get them to do the same with all of their mates etc etc.
Greenman wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 12:22 pm Do you think the lack of any viable party to vote for is a coincidence or do you think this has been many years in the making?
Vote apathy has been increasing, political effectiveness (ie the difference between parties, the general mental awareness of politicians in the mindset of the general public etc) decreasing over the past 50 years or more. I think that has increased massively in the past 20 years though.

If you thought Truss/Kwarty wiped a lot of value off of the UK PLC because of a lack of confidence then wait and see what happens if Starmer and Rayner get in. I don't think there is a financial analyst alive that predicts it not being several shades worse.

So Labour getting in is essential for my plan of shorting the economy and retiring on it. It's a win-win, the Labour voters get their government and I get the Benjamins.
I thank you in advance :)
Lol only 38% (10) of the forum are voting labour and I suspect a fair few of them are doing that to get the Tories out rather than are die hard Labour hard left.

There are more than three times as many Labour supporters as there are Conservatives and I suspect a fair few who aren't voting Labour are only doing it because they can't stand Starmer and Rayner.
Or they live in an area where the Labour candidate doesn't stand a cat in hells chance?

The question was about a GE.

And even then, Corbyn didn't stand a cat in hells chance but some of you voted for that crackpot
I didn't vote for Corbyn, but I will be voting for labour, does that mean I'm hard left? I'm so confused?

We are going around in circles here. I solely believe the vote doesn't count, especially now that we have literally no-one decent to vote for, so why vote?

If i did vote it would make no difference as the real ones in power will still oversee what ever party get's in.

No matter who you vote in, no matter how many times you vote, no matter how good the lies are that the party state they will see through, all you are voting for is a new face to relay the policies the actual people who rule the country want to pass.

Unfortunately there is no real way of proving this as it's all covered up, but ex con MP's coming about and naming those in parliament saying there are a small number of people who actually run the country is quite a hint that it's happening, in this instance Nadine Dorries. What would she have to gain if what she says is not true apart from advertisment for her new book. The book has also been assessed by solicitors btw is supposed to be factual.

I believe the world is run by evil space lizards, unfortunately there's no way of proving this as it's all covered up, but David Icke wrote books about it, so it must be true.
