There's no 890 listed on KTM's website for 2024 - it's just 990/790/390/250/125.

Bugger. The 890 R is the only bike in KTM's current line up that I really fancy. They did the same thing on me with the 690 R Duke, leading to me buying one of the last new ones in the country.

The 990 is a bit of an impostor anyway - it's really only a 950. And the suspension is proper budget compared to that on the 890 R. Hmmmm...

The 1000cc GSXS 950 is bang on the 95 ps limit so can be restricted - it was why the model was introduced.

990 replaces the 890.

790 staying as-is.

In MCN today.
Today's MCN wrote:KTM have whipped the covers off a brand-new 990 Duke naked, which takes over from the departing 890 as the firm’s mid-size sporting option – designed to thrill on track, as well cut the mustard on a country road.
As before, the Chinese-built 790 Duke twin will remain, as will a refreshed smaller 390 Duke single – with the new 990 providing the final stepping stone towards the ballistic 177bhp 1290 Super Duke R.

They'll be a 990 R I'm sure.

I think the design team in charge of the looks have a bet on with the sales team, saying these bikes are so good, even if we are having a laugh with the visuals, folk will still buy them. Meanwhile the electronics dudes are also telling the sales team it won't matter if we don't iron out the gremlins, buyers love to be connected with the service team, makes them feel special.

Has to be true,right?

This is rich irony, coming from one who defends Kawasaki's 'Terminator' styling with such vigour... :D :D

£13,000 apparently, with the up-charge after 1500kms for any of the electronics/software controlled stuff that you'd like to not have switched off.

And for a limited time only the Duke 890R is available for £9,999. I know which I'd go for.

It's where the deals always are, last of the outgoing model. Did that with my 690 and GSXS

Had a look at one of these today. There's no demo yet so only had a bit of a sit on it.

Looks great in the flesh - this was a black one. The headlight's less offensive in real life and the whole thing looks & feels just a bit more premium than the 790/890.

My one observation: the footpegs are tiny! I've got size 8 feet and the end of it was only half way across my instep/sole.

Very much so. I did ask if they were the standard ones & they guy said they were. He explained to me that KTMs are 'ready to race' and it's more than likely for ground clearance. I thanked him before throwing up in my mouth a little bit.

I did come away thinking I'd quite like to get one but remembered on the way home that they're pretty much £14 grand with the subscription paid for the tech pack - it's just too much, for me.

As with most of it, it looks a lot nicer IRL. I do prefer it to the old one.

There's a very obvious gap between 390 and 790...
