Actually looks closer to the original 790 Duke concept than anything they've put into production previously.

Anyone who hates the MT headlight, have a look at that!

But I think it looks class from every other angle.

Looks like all the other Dukes...

I don't think it looks much like most of the big Dukes. I quite like it (normally have to persuade myself to like the bigger Dukes, love the 390 tho!! )

Sure this has been answered somewhere else, but why do they still have 790s and 890s? Or is 2023 the last year of 790 and the first of 890?

It's a good question and i guess also, why do they have 790, 890, 990 now lol. They stopped making the 790 for a couple of years when they brought out the 890, but then brought the 790 back again (with having to pay for full electronics now, which was free on the first 790s)

I thought the 790 would target A2 licence holders, where the 890 can't?

£10k for a new 890 R is a great deal.

Ah yeah good point - you can only restrict something which has less than 2x the A2 limit can't you, hence why the 800 Suzuki (I think?) exists. Does the 790 fall below the limit?

Not sure of the exact figure, but think anything around 95hp or less is usually A2 compliant. The 790 is limited to 95hp in Europe, it's 105 everywhere else.

I paid £10k for my SP, I'd certainly have had a look at the KTM at the same price. The new SP is rumoured to be over £12k new.

Personally, and this is as a KTM fan, whilst the KTM is defo a competitor I think the MT is a safer bet in terms of oil leaks, dash failures etc. It's the reason I have a GSXS and not a 790/890.

Yeah the original 790 wasn't A2 and was replaced by the 890. But then bikes like the Hornet/GSX8S etc arrive and KTM have no competitor so bring back the 790 in more budget 95bhp guise missing all it's leccy stuff and built in China. But they now have 790, 890, 990 which seems a bit mental. Wonder if the 890 is of this world for much longer?

Well I'd say the 990 will eventually replace it, but they must have plenty of 890 stock to shift first. It would be a bit pointless to run them side by side.
