Bitninja page
Sometimes when logged in I get a bitninja page that asks me to do a captcha test, the click on all the pictures containing a bus type of thing. Any particular reason? I've only seen it on here, no other sites.

Re: Bitninja page
Nothing in our settings, I'd guess it's a browser/something running on your machine. I'd scan with your anti virus personally

Re: Bitninja page
Something iffy about the access point/device? (So, as suggested, probably best to run a check on your device).
BitNinja is one of the security solutions we have active on Hostingers platform. It detects IP addresses with suspicious behavior, for example, if the visitor is accessing the same web page in short intervals, fills in an incorrect password multiple times and etc. BitNinja marks such behavior potentially dangerous for Your website. Bitninja then puts the IP address of the visitor to a greylist and the he then needs to verify himself/herself by filling in a Captcha. If the Captcha is solved correctly the IP is removed from the greylist automatically.
This security feature is globally active on all of our servers and it cannot be disabled. Without this feature, your website's security as well is availability is in very high risk.

Re: Bitninja page
I'm afraid i can't offer much mate... Linux ain't my thing sorry.
It would be interesting if it's a laptop to know if it happens away from home etc...
But as i say, we only have 1 catptcha and that's on sign up and to do with solids and liquids.... i COULD enable a pictorial type, but i've not at the moment... Other than that we don't have anything configured that's along those lines. So i'm not sure how it could be the forum end.... But i'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

looking on phpbb forum there's absolutely nothing about anyone getting Bitninja messages and they've got a lot of members and a lot of forums etc.... so i honestly dunno man.

Re: Bitninja page
No worries, it's my system therefore I need to know how to sort it.
I hadn't appreciated that the captcha weren't randomly selected, makes sense though, those AI systems need to know what their being trained to look for.
I'll both ExpressVPN next.

Re: Bitninja page
I think it's you. It's happening more and more often now, that's with a fresh install and it's never happened on another site. I even tried to complete the captcha test but gave up after the 6th test in a row.
I don't know if you can do anything about, or even if you have the inclination to, but I'd thought I'd say something.

Is this on your broadband, phone signal, both?cheb wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 7:02 pm I think it's you. It's happening more and more often now, that's with a fresh install and it's never happened on another site. I even tried to complete the captcha test but gave up after the 6th test in a row.

(I'm on another UK forum that seems to be built out of crisp packets, chewing gum and baling twine and the Americans always seem to be having Captcha problems but the platform seems to be like Christmas every day for spammers despite having 39 hurdles to jump (and one tech illiterate but omnipotent admin) to get registered).

Nothing has changed on captcha since the day I installed it.cheb wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 7:02 pm I think it's you. It's not a question of lack of inclination, but with as far as we know you being a problem of 1, I'm not even sure how I'd being to troubleshoot it.
If I disable it, we're open season for hackers/spammers, as it is, we don't get many.
I just tested a new account via Firefox, then another by Chrome and worked fine

Re: Bitninja page
About once a month I get kicked out on my android phone.
Takes about 10 Capcha attempts to get back in.

Re: Bitninja page
Why are you getting captcha for logins? It's not configured to request captcha for logging in
Captcha only exists for new registration of accounts.

Re: Bitninja page
This can happen when I'm logged in, frequently when I click the Post Reply button. I've taken to c&ping my reply just in case as it doesn't save it and clicking the back button just gets me another bitninja page.

If others can log out and log in to test for me?
There is no captcha for logins, honest.
What OS and browser?

Maximum number of login attempts per username:
The number of login attempts allowed for a single account before the anti-spambot task is triggered. Enter 0 to prevent the anti-spambot task from being triggered for distinct user accounts.
3
I can disable that. But I guess the question is, why is it not getting your password correct
