2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Getting plenty of rides in at the moment with the Zombie Apocalpyse due, last couple have even been outdoors instead of on Zwift and both were on the Parkwood.. No real reason for that other than i thought it deserved an outing.
Sadly it does need new forks, almost since the first year, every time they compress and extend i get a sucking/slurping noise, which is kinda irritating LOL. So yesterday i bought it some new 29er forks which will be chucked in and away it goes again.
Ride planned today for 11am with a few mates out in the woods, G-160 or Parkwood, mmmm not sure yet.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
With working stopping soon, I intend to up my mileage over the next few months - fortunately living right next to the South ~Downs give plenty of tracks, from local, to Friston, Stanmer etc.
BPW at some stage but depend on what the day the work is going to end exactly.
Interesting about the Parkwood - I have been using my PP HT as a winter ride. I think I am coming to the conclusion that I am too old for HT! It’s okay for short rides - but after many years of resisting FS, I am a convert.
Also considering Morzine - but again that is somewhat dependant on the next few months

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Yeah it has downsides of course, being a bit harsher, but it also rides quite nicely and is easier to clean with less bits for the dirt to hide in. It's not my preference for comfort, but with the ground being soft it's nowhere near as bumpy as usual.Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:33 am With working stopping soon, I intend to up my mileage over the next few months - fortunately living right next to the South ~Downs give plenty of tracks, from local, to Friston, Stanmer etc.

We're due in Morzine in Aug... My lad will be gutted if that doesn't happen.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Lesson today....
2020-03-18_03-12-37 by Steve Weeks, on Flickr
We fitted a 42T Sunrace cassette to my old T-130, it was running a 36T.
We looked and asked ourselves... "Is that chain too short?"
I guess we found out the answer when in some mud the rear mech exploded !
Luckily we had tools with us and Singlespeeded it back most of the way...
Sadly for him i took too many links out LOL... So he was in a very tough gear hahahaha.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Picked up mates t130 to repair
Soon realised the mech wasn't happening with the 42T due to clearance issues
Well, unless I fitted an extender/goat link

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Windy and then wet, almost sleet like !!!! Brrrr.
Nice to be on the G-160 and in the hills even if it was only 50 mins.
Zwift event tonight to push myself a bit.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Lovely out there today, trails are riding beautifully.
Must say, the HT is absolutely horrific to ride LOL. They're just... Bleeuurrgghhh
Also noticed on the scales i'm on my lowest ever adult weight.
I'm wondering how much of this is down to trying the Gluten Free thing for the past few weeks.

SDW great up at Cissibury / Chanctonbury yesterday - let’s see what they are like tomorrow.
Re hard tail. Definitely finding it hard to love at the moment.
and trying to talk myself out of buying a Cotic rocket

Ha ha. Yup, missus Weeksy isn't feeling saddle today.
I raced Nath on volcano today, he won the first race, I was 3rd, next race I won!

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
I've managed 170km last week, looks like this week will finish with a similar distance, all off road riding. Im steadily checking out all the local BW and cheeky bits. It's quite nice just pedaling out from the house.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
I'm still managing to keep near my normal weekly goal of 100 miles. Now that I am not preparing for Liege Bastone Liege nor the Tour of Cambridge, I need to find another reason to push myself. Hopefully Ride London will still go ahead.

Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Normally i have/need a motivation for training and pushing but currently i don't have one and it's not really affecting me. I'm riding for fitness, enjoyment and pleasure, it's all going fairly well
Re: 2020 mileage, riding, days out update
Due to isolating all my riding is indoors
Managed 130k on the trainer last week including a 2hour race up Alpe Zwift, that's how stir crazy I'm getting. Escape from isolation today so may go for a gentle pootle in the fresh air later.
