New 2024 Yamaha MT09
Re: New 2024 Yamaha MT09
The SP version is being launched today. Touted to have Brembo Stylemas, KYB/Ohlins as before, and a small hike in power. They're going after the Street Triple RS with that.

Shame, dynamically I'm sure its great but I'd have the (also weird looking) Triumph Street Triple every time. The finish on the Triumph is streets ahead too.

Re: New 2024 Yamaha MT09
It looks... a bit generic... I can't see what it offers over what you have. No tech that's 'better' no real improvements, just minor bits of styling. For me, a next gen, needs to offer something different. Think Gen1/2 Tuono, then changed to RSV4, or 990 Superdukes Gen1 to Gen2... Even the recent XSR900>XSR900, they offered differences... This, is just a slight variation on the same bike.

A noticeably better riding position is about the only thing that would make me change.

Re: New 2024 Yamaha MT09
Lower them a bit, pull forks through a bit too. Must be able to make a good change. Ever since day one I've said the MT rides high at the front and has a vague front end, every change yamaha have made since has made them lower at the front
Re: New 2024 Yamaha MT09
Well, yea, that's pretty much it.
I can't lower them as they will hit the tank on full lock.
I never admitted it to myself until after having the bike for a season that I probably should have gone to a Street Triple or XSR because of the riding position. Ah well, you live and learn.

It's a bit telling that they've photographed it in the darktricol wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 12:07 pm Well, yea, that's pretty much it.

For me (other people may disagree),my Street Triple's a better bike than the MT 09,fast enough, better looking, all day comfortable, less tech & less money so more &&&'s to spend on riding it.
The MT09 beats it on servicing & probably reliability.

To be fair, it is comfortable. I do get a sore arse after 90 minutes or so, but I don't get a sore back or wrists.

Even the seat, every modern bike I've ridden makes my arse ache after a couple of hours, maybe I've got a bony arse.

Re: New 2024 Yamaha MT09
They've definitely toned down the bits of the earlier model that I wasn't keen on, like the headlight and the tank. Sounds like the riding position has been improved as well. Shame that the colour options are so limited.

I think I may have found the solution to my problem. Hidden away in the Gilles Tooling catalogue are these:

How easy would something like this be to fit?
