heated gloves

Post by formula400 »

right boys and girls, this year I may cave and get some heated gloves.

what's the ones to go for??? top of my wish list is for them to be at the thinner end and not to bulky.
ideally not wired to the bike.

thanks

I've got these, rst paragon. 3 settings with batteries. Work well enough but are quite bulky. SBS don't seem to sell them anymore.

I’d like to avoid bulky. I’d end up not wearing them

Get a heated waistcoat and you're far less likely to need thick gloves.

Keep your core temp up and the extremities stay warm.

Are you wearing anything on your legs? That's not a deviant question, but a matter of heat retention. I see people with layers on the top, but nothing under their trousers. You lose a shit ton of heat from your thighs.

What used to be called 'thermals' are now known as 'performance base layers'. They really work in terms of keeping you warm. It's about now that Lidl start knocking out their Crevit base layers. They're cheap and they work, plus you can buy a couple of sets for when one's in the wash.

I use a Keis heated gilet,a set of Keis heated gloves, then Oxford heated grips. That's the best system for me.

I find the gloves and gilet work best when powered off the bike. I have a portable battery too,but the bike battery gives better heat.

When I used to commute on the bike in winter, I could keep everything warm except my fingers and thumbs. I remember walking away from bike covered in ice, or frost and my fingers were in pain. No hot grips then.

Regarding bulky, don't let that put you off. I wore them yesterday, no heat required but you soon forget about bulky, not a problem at all.

I usually wear some laminated trousers when it’s cold, legs don’t really suffer that much to be fair, it’s usually my hands and body

Heated gloves are great until they break then it's very cold hand time. They work best with heated grips. I found heated kit to be the best thing ever when it was working, in the end I ditched it and went back to conventional stuff. The best winter gloves I ever used were from Racer.

I bought a cheapo battery heated waistcoat from am a zon, it was about £35. It works a treat, probably not as warm as the keis stuff and the battery won't last forever. But for £35 it is just enough to keep your core warm. I wore it all last winter in some shit cold weather.

I'm probably going to go down the route of heated grips and handguards on my scooter.

Heat kit isn't just motorcycle specific anymore. Her in doors works for a large Workware company and they've got ranges of heated kit to keep tradesmen warm. It's generally cheaper than bike specific stuff too... obviously stuff like gloves and jackets aint going to be a safe as proper bike stuff, but the waistcoats go under kit anyway.
