Here's me letting you hear how good a GSXR1000 sounds like at 178 MPH :D

First 2 young kids were a fair way in front, but be patient and you'll hear a beautiful howl from me in the orange bib in 3rd :bblonde:

Turn the volume up :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Hold on I’ll use my audio tools to remove all the other bikes from the footage so we can just hear the GSXR 🤦‍♂️

For all you folk that like touring around the USA. I was reminded recently of a series of fillums I had on VHS (think I recorded them from Channel 4). Lo! Some are on YouTube. An English chap (Elliott Bristow) went to the States in the late 60s iirc and got a job delivering cine films all over. Filmed lots with a Super8 camera. Came home in 1980 and assembled the films. Good soundtrack and the old Super8 makes it all quite dreamy. I really enjoyed them, they're quite relaxing. Programme 1 - arrives in New Yoik.

Enjoying that, thanks.

Also now trying to track down Rick Loveridge from the soundtrack, who, according to the internet so far, doesn't seem to exist.

Dang. Having posted the link I just had to start watching them again.....never mind it's only 3 hours worth. :D Leo Kottke, Jack Kerouac, Penguin Café Orchestra?

They really are little nuggets and time capsules of a lost age :( My word, isn't/wasn't America big and beautiful and very, very strange).

If anyone finds the first prog a bit hmm. Press on and watch the next ones. It hits the straps after the first one.

If you Google "rick loveridge music' he pops up on something like a crossword forum as a sort of ambient soundtrack sort of person.

Have since found him - he doesn't have a 'c' in his forename. He only seems to be on Bandcamp & Soundcloud but none of the Road Dreams stuff is available, sadly.

Yeah but Leo Kottke is.

Lots of notes and shades of John Fahey.

(Just done Ep. 6 and jumped back to 3 or 4...Youtube. Harrumph).

Kottke is worth looking up. I liked the ep where they played 'I guess I owe it all to Pamela Brown'. I think I have most of his works on CD.

We passed Las Cruces, New Mexico, in the night and arrived in Arizona at dawn. I woke up from a deep sleep to find everybody sleeping like lambs and the car parked God knows where, because I couldn't see out the steamy windows. I got out of the car. We were in the mountains: there was a heaven of sunrise, cool purple airs, red mountainsides, emerald pastures in valleys, dew, and transmuting clouds of gold; ... It was time for me to drive on.

Love a bit of Kerouac. :D

It's at the end of each episode! When it started at the end of ep1 my ears pricked up, sounded like Hunter Thompson at first.

It sends a tingle up my spine. Honestly, it's one of the best bits of TV I've seen. No HD, no special effects just raw America at a time we'll never see again. The cars! The trucks! The dinosaurs! I guess some bits haven't changed much. :D

It's like an Edward Hopper painting come to life. I've had this on my wall for umpteen years (not the original, but I made a pilgrimage to see the original).

Taylor Mackenzie (Niall's son and Taz's brother) has been doing some very interesting (and amusing) investigative journalism on the subject of cannabis and MotoGP sponsorship. And I never thought I'd see those in the same sentence. Here:
