Trek Rail : seat post sticking

I have a Rail with now about 250 miles on it
The seat post keeps sticking when held way down. To get it back up, it is pressure the levers retract it and the press lever, then it come back to full height.
I can think of two reasons - seat collar too tight ( but I am not sure it is that), or not enough pressure in the seat post.
Or obviously , a buggered seat post.

Being a Eeb, all the control wires seem to be hidden - so I guess I'm going to have to delve into the guts to find where the air valve is.
Does anyone else have the same issue?

Is it the Bontrager Line Pro ?

If i recall the air is under the saddle, remove saddle, then the spacer, then there's a rubber cap, under there may well be the air valve.

I find a lot of dropper posts come under inflated from the manufacturer, that or they've been sat a long time before being sold and lost pressure, and it's not something that is ever checked before sale to be honest...

Can't remember the exact pressure required off the top of my head, but seem to remember it's in the 250-300psi ball park. Don't quote me on that though.

Hmm - there isn't a rubber spacer but a cap section with 3nm written in it. So I will photograph and post later - but not what I thought. There is a recess that may be an Allen key port

A bit more investigation suggests it is the Line Elite Dropper post which is top on the range. But the dropping action is done via an air/hydraulic cartridge. I don't think it can be fiddled with.
I have loosened off the seat collar and will see if that solves the issue

I just bought a Raceface for £72 from CRC in 150 drop. My standard post is 170 drop.

Well the one on my old Fuel was the same model as yours and mine. It got sticky and properly wobbly... you can buy a service kit, but a lot of internet posts are "my bike was rattly, i swapped the post and silence"...
This echos my findings too, i can hold my Bontrager in my hands now it's off the bike and shake it up and down and get a noise... i tried this on the new Raceface that's replaced it, nothing... silence. You can lob whatever RRP you want on it... i've not found it a great post personally.

I'm happy with it and internet wisdom says it's a BrandX that's rebranded as Raceface... it's smoother, quicker and quieter.... for £71 it was worth a go as it's under warranty.... which arguably so is your Bontrager.
