1977 Kawasaki Z1000 / KZ1000
I'm listing this on behalf of my little brother - the owner of the 550K3 that I did a little recommissioning thread on a couple of months back before I sold it for him.
Anyway, he's also selling his (K)Z1000 - it was originally sold in the US, and imported from the States in 2001.
Mart ( my brother) bought it in 2013, having loved his Z650 in the early 80s, and wanting to re-visit that air-cooled Kawa IL4 experience
It's located in Bracknell, Berks, and he's after £6995 for it, or very close to that- I have a van so if needed or it helps, may also be able to help with getting it to you.
Some more pics, words, and a walk-around video are below- he's a genuine bloke and it's a genuine bike- yup it's a KZ rather than a Z and not as desirable as a Z1, but it isn't Z1 money either
Anyway, over to Mart for the more detailed description, if anything else you want to know, or you want to come and have a look etc, PM me and I'll put you in touch
I am the second UK owner and it has covered 30,000 miles (only 6,000 of these since importation). This is confirmed by receipts which show she's had new headrace bearings, camchain tensioner, and rear brake disc in the last 2 - 3000 miles.
All UK MOT certificates are also present.
It comes with the original owner's manual, tool kit and genuine Kawasaki, Haynes, and Clymer workshop manuals.
It's had very little use by me, having been sat in my garage unused, for the last 8 years, realistically that isn’t going to change and so it's time she went.
Laying up for all that time meant some work was needed to make her ready to ride once again.
The tank has been cleaned, carbs completely stripped, and ultrasonically cleaned prior to complete carb kits (Keyster) being used to replace all jets/seals/gaskets.
A new battery, spark plugs, air filter, and oil and filter have also been fitted.
All brake calipers/pistons have been inspected and cleaned, with new caliper seals and pads (EBCs) to the rear.
New brake fluid and a good clean to an already tidy bike for it's age brings us up to date.
The bike's pretty much standard and is still on its original rims, but has Jama silencers fitted which look the part and are in excellent condition- I believe these were a slip-on replacement made by Laser in the day.
The previous owner also had the front brake set up changed to a twin drilled disc setup, which was a 'must' upgrade to many bikes of its era.
The original rear disc/caliper/piston, front discs (not drilled), original front brake lever, and housing with master cylinder and reservoir come with the bike in a box of spares, and all appear to be in good condition.
Also in the box are a pair of as new boxed Hagon shocks (which the previous owner bought but preferred the softer ride of the originals), some front crash bars, a brand new petrol cap with keys (still boxed), a genuine Kawasaki oil filter and the original fuel tap.
The bike's fitted with Dyna electronic ignition. The tyres are Bridgestone BT45Rs which although showing no signs of perishing and new when I purchased the bike would be best replaced due to their age.
There are some minor cosmetic blemishes to the paintwork and one or two corroded fasteners here and there, but all considered the bike is in good condition for a 46-year-old bike - It is registered as 'Historic' so needs no MOT, and the road tax is free.
I've only ridden her about 60 miles since the work listed above, but she starts, runs, and rides very well, with no issues.
I am happy to answer any serious questions about the bike that you feel haven't been covered- direct bank transfer on collection.

That's a good price for it - might be worth putting it on the Z1 Owners Club forum and Facebook page if he hasn't already.

Good money and a tidy bike. Classic bike prices are in a deep hole at the moment, but that's an attractive prospect.
I'll link it to some classic groups. Are there any contact details Tricky?

Cheers @Skub , yup, agree RE Classic prices, I know from the sale of his 550 and my LC that I also sold a month or two back that the market definitely seems to have shrunk over the last year or two - RE contact, it's Mart on 0773 379 9661

I'll not put up his number directly, but I've mentioned I have a contact number if someone is properly interested. Should keep the dickheads and spammers at bay.

Just for my interest, how did your brother feel the 1000 compared with the 650, I thought the 650/750 was nicer to ride than the 1000/1100

Looks much better with the '76 Z900 paint scheme. The original '77 paint was about the most bland Kawasaki ever managed.
