Winter warmers: Best heated motorcycle gloves to keep you going in cold weather
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-kit ... ke-gloves/
A good pair of motorbike gloves is essential when the temperature drops. However, when it’s really cold, sometimes we need to actually add heat via something like a pair of heated motorcycle gloves to make sure that we stay warm and don’t begin to feel the effects of cold; a loss of concentration, followed by feeling and a decrease in safety.
One of the first areas that can start to feel cold are the hands. Many riders swear by heated grips and indeed, these will help you to keep using thinner gloves for improved feel and comfort when things start to get chilly.
However, unless you have handguards to protect your hands from the windblast, the wind-chill can drastically reduce the effective temperature at your fingertips. And in this case, you start to get cold very quickly and heated grips will do nothing to help you.
I know this from previous experience. Every winter, I find myself gravitating to a pair of heated gloves, for the simple reason that my palms tend not to get cold as they are against the grips (heated or not) but my fingertips and the back of my hand do – where the wind gets them. And a pair of heated gloves is the answer.

Heated gloves are 'ok'. Despite urine extraction over having liner gloves on wires, like kids with their gloves on elastic, there was usually just mumbling when I was the only one who's fingers worked to undo a helmet strap easily.
But it took me years - decades even - to take notice of others' advice. I'd used heated liner gloves and heated grips, often behind fairings and screens.
If, like me, you feel the cold, get a heated waistcoat. Keeping your body core warm means that your body doesn't shut down blood flow to the extremities.
First ride with mine was 120 miles, one T&P stop, in 2°C temps and drizzle. I switched the heated grips off, didn't need them. Got home with just cold toes.

I've a pair of 'premium heated' Keis, they are a lovely thing, not sure of the model.(601 I think) I hate bulky gloves and these are like Summer gloves, very light but toasty warm. The top setting is mostly too warm on the days I'm out.
I use them in conjunction with heated grips,so both sides of my hands stay warm.

Ime...heated grips are better, I do have handgaurds mind, but you really can feel the heat.
Ive got heater gloves aswel which will be used on the RE, no heated grips and without handgaurds they're OK but not as hot as tuther.

I like my Gerbing heated gloves that wire into the bike. That way I know they will work for as long as I need them and I don't need to be worrying about charging them. I've had them at least five years (maybe more) and they are as good as new.

I can't help but thinking not riding is the best answer
But heated grips are certainly a great comfort factor

I think it was Dirtybill who really persuaded me of the benefit of a heated gilet, and the first one I had was from the same Canadian supplier that he bought his from. And to be honest, it was probably the best I ever had because it was thin, instead of the bulky fleece things that are normally the options we see in the UK.Horse wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 7:46 am One of the first areas that can start to feel cold are the hands. I now have a "Warm-n-safe" mid-layer (instead of a gilet) and because it's worn closer to the body, it doesn't use as much power, but is still just as warm).

Re: Winter warmers: Best heated motorcycle gloves to keep you going in cold weather
Depends on what you're doing....
At the time: I was commuting into Central London all year round, from 50 miles away: if the trains were in any way disrupted, the only real option was biking in (using the car was a non-starter, and alternative public transport routes were a no-no).
Or at the next job.. no usable public transport options whatsoever (unless you're prepared to do a 5 hour journey each way which can't even be started until 10:00), and a distinct lack of parking provision: bike is best option.
For anyone commuting by bike (there's always a good reason ) heated kit will definitely make you safer and comfier.

I do a lot of my riding in the early morning, which means it can be on the cold side (single figures) at almost any time of year. I've used heated grips, gloves and gilet in what are our Summer months. I don't need to ride in the snow and ice to appreciate heated gear.

I've got heated grips and heated gloves, heated gloves are better, they keep your whole hand warm.
My heated gloves have rechargeable batteries in the gloves, no wires, just put them on and switch the heat on, the batteries last 4 hours.

I'm in serious need of winter gloves!! But it'll have to go on the list to look for next year! I'll go dig out the stupidly big ski gloves I've got and see if they'll go over my summer bike gloves - just for the next few times I ride until winter!! LOL

Blimey - it's that time again. I'll second Horse...
I went through decades of heated grips and heated gloves... I always had 'the latest and bestest' on the bike and on my hands.
Then I bought one of the first batch of Gerbing heated vests to make t this side of the Atlantic.
My GOD!!
I couldn't believe it. It was just in time for a icy cold winter when I was in Kent despatching by day and blood running by night. I was out one night from 2am to 5am for 3 hours at temps around -10c... really!
I was wrapped up well over my heated vest, and was bloody cold when I got in, but fingers and toes still worked.
I had that Gerbing for almost twenty years before it packed up, and most winter weather I never bothered with anything other than three season gloves. If you have 'white finger' then by all means use heated gloves... but invest in the heated gilet first. You won't regret it.

How will you operate the switch gear or even the controls in an emergency?
That's something else I learned despatching - big, thick chunky gloves with big chunky fingers make fine control very difficult

As we're going round this loop again, as we do every winter, may I post my usual vote for heated seats. There's a lot of blood flows through the groinal area and if you can chuck a bit of heat at it, it's

If it's a bit freezy or icy I'll just turn over and stay under the duvet.
Talking of which, here's a love poem to a duvet:
Duvet,
You are so groovet,
I'd like to stay under you
All of Tuesdet.
