Image resizing for idiots

Well, just this one idiot. How do you resize pictures? I’m desperate to post a picture but i now have an iphone (11 if it matters) and I don’t know how to. Image is too large. Please use short words and patience - assumption of tech ability will lead to blown fuses.

You could take a screenshot of the photo - press the side and volume-up buttons at the same time.

I upload the photo to Facebook, into a private album no one else can see.

Then download it from FB to my device.

Photos I've taken with my phone usually go from 4mb down to a couple of hundred kb.

On my older Samsung S9, screenshots are too large and need to be resized (and the top bar trimmed off).

No idea about Apple, but Android picture editor has a 'resize' option, with a range pre-set % . It's in the 'more' three dots button.

However, IIRC, this varies within Android ...

Nope, at least not as far as I know.

You could send the photo to yourself with Whatsapp, that shrinks them substantially. I just tried it and a 2.2mb photo went down to 149kb.

Email it to yourself and then you can select what size image you want to send.

On a Mac I use 'Preview' and resize is under the drop down options. My phone is android,so that's no use to ya.

Lots of ideas there, thanks, but it’s an iPhone, not android, so those are out, and it’s not a laptop so that’s out, and taking a screenshot >> still too big. And I don’t do FB. I much prefer my old Samsung but it stopped supporting my banking needs and the family persuaded me to move to iPhone. Grrr. I’ll try the email to me/WhatsApp ideas and let you know. But those suggestions and the fact that they won’t work makes me feel slightly less stupid, which is a help.

(This is all triggered by my desire to add to the “you on your bike somewhere” thread - you’ll see if it works!).

Text reduces the size more - my summer boss asked me to send photos of the him and the student on WhatsApp so it kept the quality!! So maybe try texting the photo?

I use imgbb.com to upload pics from an old iPhone to that site and share from there

If you are needing an exact size say 800x480 you are better using your computer. I can resize on my phone but it wont tell me the size until after its saved then i check. If wrong size then repeat. Yet to find away round that so upload them all to https://postimages.org/ for safe storage then use paint.net (Free) to resize

https://imgbb.com/ will let you upload your image and click teh viewers link dropdown and it'll give you bb code so you can just copy the url and paste it into the forum, so you dont need to use tags. It'll come out at the right size when you post.

PS. You dont need to create an account, you can just upload images.
