I’ve currently got a Microsoft surface pro laptop with docking station / hub which plugs directly into the laptop and fires up the two monitors, mini display ports on the hub into display port connections on the monitors, various usb devices are also connected.
The laptop and hub are being returned but I get to keep the monitors.
Is there such a thing as a universal docking station / hub which will enable us to connect an aging Dell laptop (with USB 3), a chrome book (USB C) and indeed any new laptop in the future. Is so, I’d welcome some recommendations / suggestions.
Google has left me utterly confused!
Docking Station/ hub?

Re: Docking Station/ hub?
Pretty much any USB-C hub will work with any laptop with USB-C.
I use a Dell Laptop with a HP Hub at work.
If you've got a device without USB-C, you can get old skool USB docks, but...
1. they don't power the device
2. they have a built in GFX card/chip which is usually worse than the one the laptop has
