I quite like the look of some of Farer's stuff...bit different basically, without being over the top so...but all the above comments apply.

Their bricks and mortar shop is not a million miles from me though so I might go have a real life look.
Re: Titanium though, Seiko seem to do loads of Ti watches at way lower prices than others. I assume they're all in house movements too?

Yep, Seiko uses their own movements. Orient use Seiko movements as well, and while not popular in the UK, are well thought of.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 8:30 am I quite like the look of some of Farer's stuff...bit different basically, without being over the top so...but all the above comments apply.

The home page has a man riding a Royal Enfield across a desert. It's an omen!

Hamiltons are lovely watches - I’ve got the cheapest field khaki - it’s a field watch of a similar style to the seiko 5 that potter posted a pic of. It’s a mechanical manual wind so nice and slim and at 38mm it suits my skinny girls wrists. It uses Hamilton’s own movement but I still think it’s based on an ETA 2800 mech movement.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
If anyone has a watch with mineral glass looking a bit scabbled it's worth upgrading it to sapphire glass.
I have a Casio MDV-106 that I bought cos its pretty tough, being 200m water resistant it's got thick glass so quite hardy.
Thing is, its just mineral glass and wearing 8t at work scabbled it to fook in no time, then we moved a couple of 300+ kilo frames and during the lift it ended up with a conchoidal fracture.
Anyway, I have a press to replace the cristal, took the quartze movement out (beware of expensive imitations) then popped the cristal out and a 2.7mm thick sapphire* cristal in.
That was maybe six months ago and I've not put a single scratch on it since, serious improvement over mineral glass.
The watch its self just looks like a divers watch, rotating bezel and so on although I got shot of the slightly too small strap and stuck a cheapo Nato style (not one of those Bond ones either, ack) one on that was longer (knocking on 8 3/4" wrists) than standard.
Oh and taking a photo of a watch actually on yer wrist is a right odd angle
Well, actually I have two of the watches, a black one with the sapphire cristal and a blue one thats still standard and waiting for me to swap it over.
*it's just made from the same stuff as Sapphire and Ruby so I guess they could have called it ruby instead, dunno why they didn't, it's a real corundum. Its sapphire innit. Sounds a bit geezah.
I have a Lorus titanium cased field watch styled thing, nice and unobtrusive but its a bit small on my wrist, I'll likely fire a "Sapphire" cristal on that one at some point as well cos it wasnt hard to swap over

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Bought one!
I had a look around and found out they do/did Blue, Black and Green ones. They don't make the green one, t'was limited edition (of 5000! ) any more but I like that one the best. I just bought a second hand on eBay, number 2744, for £100 off Hopefully it'll actually turn up

I've never owned a bike in the Cub family, but I have fond memories of doing miles and miles on them working for Domino's as a teenager.
How can you not love them? . More importantly how could I not love them given my job.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I like that, it would fit in nicely as Seiko #5 in my watch drawer.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:06 pmBought one!

Edit.
But perhaps not. Only 1 on e-bay, at $960 which is a bit steep for what it is!

There were two. If/when mine turns up maybe I should flip it, I paid £240.
