Pretty sure that's the shop I wandered into in Brackley a month or so back and he told me the exact same thing about BMWs - just not interested.

Non-BMW dealers never like buying in BMWs, i suspect it's because the service information isn't easy to get hold of from BMW.

Maybe the margins aren't as good either.

Is the BM photo just a photo of the bike or does it have some faded other bike in it for comparison? Looks odd.

You're right about the NC750 but it also sort of reminds me of the DR Big

Nah, the BMW has an Anthracite seat and the Honda's is clearly Charcoal.

I found my 1100/1150 GS much more comfortable than my Rockster. I think that's the attraction for a lot of people on ADV bikes. I drive an SUV for the more chair like seating position too, and not for its off road ability. Neither my bike or car will ever go off road intentionally.

That "Evap" system is only for the US (I think) were they're so paranoid about emissions that the fuel-tank breather has to have a charcoal cannister to prevent evaporated fuel getting out....

I think evap is included as part of the more recent Euro regulations. If not, then I can't imagine why they'd have fitted it to my 2018 cb300r.

Oh, as for buying what I'm marketed, the nearest they got to marketing the 1150GS to me was putting it in the window at the dealers. Went by, saw it, went 'Oooh!' and bought it*.

(I'd seen an earlier version parked up about a year before and gone 'Oooh! at that as well).

I had only had a brief go on a 1200gs and hated it, despite owning a couple of old airheads.

I only bought my 1150 because I was sick of the Himalayan falling to bits on a daily basis and I knew the guy who owed the GS amd knew he had completely rebuilt it from front to back.

Within a few minutes of buying it, I wished I had bought one 20 years ago.

It's all very strange. I ran an R12 engined bike (not a GS) alongside my R1150GS for a while and, although the 12 was a 'better' engine by most measurements I didn't like it as much as the 1150. I also tried an R1200RT and didn't like it as much as the 1150 version so, in the end end I chopped the R12 in for a K12GT when they came out.

If I could have one bike back it would be the GS. (I even check if it's still getting MoT'd and taxed.

I thought that was an electric bike at first glance!

Obviously the exhaust somewhat pokes a hole in that observation. But the black cylinders are almost invisible and the big ally (?) panels made me think it has a massive battery.

I took an r1250rs for a test ride the other week & sat on a new GS - casually enquired about the price £24.5k or £26k with luggage - I'm definitely getting old
