Re: Insurance
Fully comp insurance for my Speed Triple is cheaper than the road tax...
and they are each less than half the cost of the insurance and tax for the 15 year old 1.2 Clio that I drive to work and back.

Re: Insurance
I wonder... What if they made all bikes tax exempt, simplified the test, it might get some car's off the road and ease conjestion, possibly maybe.
It'd take some alternative thinking, never happen.

Re: Insurance
Bikes are far too dangerous - you can't have a simplified test!!

I think they're high risk as they don't have good degrees which would have taught them to focus; and are frequently distracted by their own jewellery / watches.

Shoes are nearly as snobbery as watches nowadays.

Re: Insurance
Was reading an article yesterday saying some insurance companies were declining leccy cars and others had bumped premiums by a lot more than for petrol and diesel. No idea how true for most. But I'd heard most insurance was up by a lot. My Dad just had his near double for a 2011 Fiesta. Mine are all due Jan/Feb. Joy.

Re: Insurance
I've just read my bike insurance renewal - from Bennetts - properly instead of just looking at the renewal price as usual.
They've snuck in a clause about denying claims in the absence of a "warranted secondary security such as a D lock, disclock, padlock and chain, immobiliser or other similar device." in addition to the usual immobiliser stipulation.
I'll have to give them a call after all.

Bloody hell... they should NOT be allowed to do that. Twice I've had 'riding other bike' cover sneaked out of the policy without being told.ChrisW wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 6:35 pm I've just read my bike insurance renewal - from Bennetts - properly instead of just looking at the renewal price as usual.

Re: Insurance
Looking at insurance for the CBR650r, currently with Bennett’s, they want 3k
Bike insurer best fully comp quote is £930.
Best TPFT is £540 (but none allow riding other bikes)
Is other than the riding other bikes is there many reasons to go fully comp??? I’ve always been TPFT.
I am sure it’s a combo of the miles I do, and my job, removing the pillion has taken £95 off the quote apparently.
Even my big accident in 2018 make no difference at all.
On another nee our house insurance with nationwide is £10 cheaper this year.

Re: Insurance
I've got a set of comparison quotes - Devitt are 30% cheaper than Bennetts.
Never used them before - any reason to avoid them?

Re: Insurance
I was with Devitt for the first year of the GSXS as Bennetts was way higher. 2nd year and Bennetts was cheaper so with them again now. Devitt seemed fine, albeit I didn't have dealings with them other than getting insurance but they seemed OK and I'd use them again
