The dealer I bought my R1z from had one in stock back then, lovely looking thing it was. He's the chap with the shed full of exotica.

I'd sold my RD350LC and was looking for a Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mk1 to buy (which I did). Anyway, went into the old 3 Cross dealership in South London and there were 2 MV's, a 750 Sport and 750 America, they wanted £3000 for the Sport and £3500 for the America. I could have afforded one but both seemed like an oportunity too good to pass up, so I decided to have a chat with the old man when I got home. He was "wtf are we going to do with a pair of MV's", I said put them in the garage and watch them appreciate". They were never bought. I did take some delight in showing him MV's for sale which were making 10 times what we could have paid in under 5 years.

Some years later I fancied a slabby GSXR750 and was going around dealers to see if they had anything in stock. One place said they'd do me a fantastic deal on a brand new CBR600 (this was 1986), £3000 instead of £3700. I sold it 18 months later for £3500, one of the few bikes I've made money on. I never did buy the Suzuki.

It's in quotes so I took it as a 'soft' iconic.

And I did mean the EF. The EFE had a fairing and was far shitter.

The EF was the faired one, the EFE was the cult unfaired one.

The GSX1100E is the unfaired one, there is no EF, the EFE has the fairing, none of them are iconic, they didn't get rave reviews when they were new, they had the misfortune of coming out the same year as the GPZ900R and the FJ1100, but if you want one I know where one will be for sale soon.

Nothing "cult" about either of them, shite but definitely not desirable. If you want an iconic Suzuki from that era you need to go back a few years to the GS1000R or forward to the GSX-R. In my opinion obvs.

What you REALLY want, is an oil cooled GSXR1100... at the peak of it's development before it went water-cooled... a 1992 GSXR1100N

As a BONUS they came with pink GSXR stickers!

Hmmm, iconic Suzuki from around 1984 has to be the slide carbed, spoked wheel 1000 Katana.

Sorry gents, that's middle age for you.

I meant the unfaired one. It was cool as fuck. I might look out for one on eBay but I bet they're all fucked or silly money now.

Cheesy, if you know of one, let me know when it's coming up for sale.

I googled it.

I found a site that said the EFE was available as faired or unfaired. To me the EFE is the desirable unfaired one.
