Portimao
It's almost here.
I catch the ferry tmrw night 11:30 and arrive 8:00 Monday morning.
The trackday company has an event at nearby Jerez so gonna pop in for a visit.
Might try to blag a ride on the Tuesday
Then wander over to Portimao.
Penny flies in Thursday and I'm on track Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
After Mondays sessions gonna hot tail it to Huelva for the night.
Then a short journey to Cadiz for ferry 2:00 Tuesday.

Re: Portimao
I'm very very envious!! Looking forward to photos and comment about the track.
I've only played on three Euro tracks, Jerez, Cartagena and Portimao - Portimao is the one I'd go back to EVERY time I could!! LOL The others were great, I love Cartagena as it's more twisty/less straights. But Portimao is an on steroids version and I LOVE it!!

Re: Portimao
Got lists and lists of stuff to take.
Was much easier in UK when everything was already in the LMH or on the dedicated trackdays shelves in the garage.

Re: Portimao
Snap : I would go Jerez, portimao *and finally Cartagena
* to be fair the weather was not on my side for portimao as I went in October so never really had a good run at it , even though I did have full wets it’s not the same
Can’t say I would be too upset having to ride any of them again .

Re: Portimao
I 'liked' them all. Cartagena was the first, then Jerez, then Portimao. I'd go back to any of them (TBF, I'd go to any euro circuit!) but I would LOVE to go back to Portimao!! Need to go and not through the bike down the track (and smash my little finger!!)mel wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 6:11 pmSnap : I would go Jerez, portimao *and finally Cartagena

Re: Portimao
Just seen that early afternoon on last day, there's a fun race for each group.
Hmm. Bit too old for that Malarkey. But I still feel able to ride close and fast to others.
Just maybe not fast enough to win.
There were fun races at the other Spanish circuits I did, but I was banned coz I was an instructor

You're never too old... unless it's a Le Mans startYorick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 8:02 pm Just seen that early afternoon on last day, there's a fun race for each group.

A few months ago on Gran Canaria I was pleased that I could go quick without a hint of fear or trepidation.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 8:04 pmYou're never too old... unless it's a Le Mans startYorick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 8:02 pm Just seen that early afternoon on last day, there's a fun race for each group.

Re: Portimao
Toprak has to be the most gifted rider out there in wsbk right now,but there's no beating a light rider and a fast bike.

Re: Portimao
Took ages to get to the circuit.
The circuit staff were being a right pain and made it impossible for me to wander about and talk to the TDOs.
I've ridden here before, so not too bothered.
Stinking 34c anyway, so came the hotel
Blimey. It's posh

Re: Portimao
Left Jerez early and first 2 hours averaging steady 85
Then hit Portugal. The toll machine wouldn't accept debit cards so had to go shit roads. 100 miles in 3 hours.
I was cursing.
Hotel staff moved a barrier and let me put bike back of hotel safe.
No other parking at all.
