Re: KTM 390 Adventure?
Cheers chaps. I'm as pleased as punch with it. I only really intended it for short journeys when it's not worth starting the car, going to the shops and stuff.
I do like the idea of an African Twin. And I was very tempted by the 1290 Super Duke in the shop as it looked like a bit of a weapon. But I don't know what I'd actually do with either of them. My days of putting silly trousers on and riding round and round for no reason are long gone.
The little Adventure is ideal for local work. I've got an aluminium top box I'll put on soon. I've been wearing a matt black piss pot helmet, a face scarf and media glasses and cutting about town like that.
I think it's doing 70-80mpg too!

Not surprised you're getting that MPG sounds like you're spending the whole time appraising your hipster self in all the shop windows at 10 mph!

Re: KTM 390 Adventure?
I did my first longer ride on it today. About 65 miles round trip, mainly on dual carriageway. It coped very well. It's more fun on smaller roads but it's fine on bigger ones with (just) enough power.
It handles very nicely, really stable and neutral and you can use the wide bars to make it turn fast.
The headlights are really good. The back brake is weak. It's hard to find neutral.
Best of all perhaps, it did about 80mpg on the long trip and more than that on shorter ones, which is great for someone dead tight and scrottagy like me.
Overall I'm really pleased with it. I only really bought it so I didn't have to use the car for short journeys but it's a nice little bike. Not that little either if that makes sense.

I did just over 50 miles on it today going to some shops etc. It returned 95mpg. Ready to race? Ready to scrottage more like.

Bloody hell, did you have the engine running
Although tbf I stuck to a max of 60mph after the puncture repair and got just over 60mpg on the big GSXS

If the price of fuel keeps going up, I might be thinking about one!Asian Boss wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 5:24 pm I did just over 50 miles on it today going to some shops etc. It returned 95mpg. Ready to race? Ready to scrottage more like.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure?
I sold it. It's gone.
The dash kept misting up and that offended me.
Also I moved house and don't do short journeys anymore. And we're a two PREE-UUUS family now, which are also ideal for short journeys.
The buyer thought he'd grifted me by driving the price down but I grifted him real good see, by drying out the misted console with a heat gun before he viewed and bought the bike.
