Japanese MotoGP

Post by Noggin »

I'm sure I'm duplicating but can't see a thread for it.

As ever, I have questions (probably wouldn't have if I'd been watching in English!! )

Will spoiler them, just in case!!

But - I enjoyed the sprint and the race today, although the conditions were a bit scary! I mean, I've done a TD in seriously heavy rain but my 'speed' is sluglike in comparison to those loonies!!

Anyway - question -
Spoiler
I think I know the answer but -

Zarco couldn't restart because he had help getting the bike back to the pit, is that right?

I always understood that if you fell off in the lap of a red flag, you could restart if you and the bike got to the pits

But given that about three marshals were pushing him, was that the reason he wasn't allowed to start?

Or have the rules changed and it was because he fell off before the red flag??

It was apparently because they took a shortcut behind the barriers/tyre wall rather than going back to the track and entering the pit lane normally.

A shame but sort of makes sense.

Thank you. I figured it wasn't just the obvious thing, but the French commentator was translating over the english conversation and I didn't get all his words and couldn't hear all theirs!!

One day, one day soon, I'll understand the commentary in French as well!!
