Yeech and that's in Surrey? Although is that a fair few miles commuting?

Mine was £140 last year for the GSXS 1000 with 12 years NCB and 4k miles riding. I'm fully expecting it to go up though judging from the grapevine. And joy of joys both of our cars and my bike insurance are due just over a month apart.

Yeah piss take isn't it. My car is a 2016 and I pay £20 a year for a 2 litre. My bike does less than half the mileage and is better on MPG and I'd guess emissions too and I get fleeced for £90 more.

The £20 tax eligibility ended in 2017, if your car was a couple of years newer you'd be paying £180.

I put 6 months tax on the RE , just to split em. MT and GS tax both end this month. MT will be sorned. GS is having a little trip north in October so I'll put 12 months on that.

I was told insurance is going up as it gets past the algorithms set by the covid/lock down period? It has been artificially low due to the lack of vehicle use during lock down and its rumoured Ins Cos saved over £1bn during this period, but is now slowly, but surely, changing back...

Time to finally get my 599cc XT600 back on the road & save some tax

Insurance on my 4 bikes here in Spain have to be on seperate policies, and cost me a total of around €600 a year.
However, the policies allow anyone over the age of 25 who has held a policy for a minimum of two years can ride them.
Great when mates come over, as we can go out together on them.

I am having trouble getting travel insurance for riding in the EU though. It seems no insurers will cover me on a bike exceeding 125cc, even if it is my own.

I really struggled this year to get our home insurance below a grand, took a lot of calls but still paid over £700.

Wife's car insurance took a jump too from just under £500 to £750 - ended up getting it down but you shouldn't have to go through the annual dance.
The shitbox I drive did actually come down by about £20 this year!

That is the thing that burns my biscuits. Get a renewal (RAC/AA, car insurance, home insurance, anti-virus-, energy etc etc), decline....'Oh! We can do it for £x'....and we're expected to be grateful. There used to be a time when loyalty paid, now it's all about 'switching' but nothing gets cheaper.

My son-in-law, 40, not a huge amount of no claims because he didn't learn to drive like forever - £1k pa driving a fairly average looking Honda

Apparently sparks are a big risk? Certainly most of his colleagues act like teenagers with the drink and drugs.

I think they're high risk as they don't have good degrees which would have taught them to focus; and are frequently distracted by their own jewellery / watches.

I remember paying £1425 to insure a brand new Fiesta RS1800 in 1992!

I'll skip the good old days....
