They do nice work, but I've heard of financial shenanigans where they use deposit money from the next guy to finish the current build. They had a subsidiary in LA for a while but they closed to doors PDQ.

ISTR if you had to have a four stroke, Z250s were considered to be OK, same power as a Superdream but lighter.
Compared to some of the shit people rode back then, like my mates CJ250, it would have been a revelation.
To be honest I doubt my RD250E was much faster flat out

I had an '81 or '82 Z250 for despatching in Cambridge. It snapped the crank in two... That entire Z250/GPz305 range were grenades looking for a place to explode. Without doubt the biggest pile of shit Kawasaki ever produced.
A month before it blew up I actually set the fucking thing on fire, but it was saved by some *helpful* moron who rushed out of a restaurant with an extinguisher.
