Wonder what his excuse/reason's going to be?
Having made the North my home and being aware of how many people make their way to visit the area, walk Hadrian’s Wall and enjoy the sight of the tree, a public flogging won’t be good enough punishment. The little cunt should be dragged by his bollocks along the length of the wall. His parents / whoever gave him access to the chainsaw should be stumping (sic) up the £20k fine for the TPO transgression.

Utterly disgusting behaviour without excuse.

Soo....

According to something Mrs D is reading on reddit (pretty robust source I know!) a local land owner is hacked off with people always parking on their land and walking across it to see this tree.

16 year old would potentially receive a lower charge for this offence...

This is nearly as compelling as that pub which burned down!

Get the lad to plant an oak tree and he has to tend it for the rest of his life.

The fine should be x£1000 for each year of the estimated age of a tree chopped down without permission (on top of the guillotine obvs).

It's an awfully professional looking cut for a lone 16yo in the middle of the night. With high winds. In a storm.

Good enough for our Willy....

Madam, an hour before the worshipped sun
Peered forth the golden window of the east,
A troubled mind drove me to walk abroad,
Where, underneath the grove of sycamore
That westward rooteth from this city side,
So early walking did I see your son.

I don't comment much on this forum, but I'm sitting here stoned and up to my eyeballs in tears, thinking about what right ANYONE would have to cut down that very ICONIC tree in this day and age, 2023, 21st Century and all that, I thought it was supposed to be better than this somehow. Yes its the weed talking but I mean come what the actual fck are we actually doing her, I do begin to wonder sometime. But I mean come on its been there 300 years, you fkin know its ICONIC for some reason, but its now not ICONIC in your eyes anymore is it, and it won't be for anyone else now will it. You fkin moron!!!"

I'm sorry but I feel so more better for venting that out. I had to say it somewhere and this is where it is. It'll save me embarrassing myself in public somewhere where some little scrote throws his empty bottle in the middle street........... etc. Thankyou once again. I'll have a coffee now, a nice caramel latte, maybe a bit of cream, I don't but there you go.

My thoughts exactly, it's a tree, if you've never cut down a tree you're not a real man.

I bet you shouted "TIMBER" the first time you cut down a tree, I'm pretty sure I did.

I've never cut down a tree with a chainsaw.

I used an axe like a real man. When I was 15.
