What am I missing? Motorcycle crash
So I can understand the fine for no licence/insurance, but surely the car caused that crash by turn across oncoming traffic?

The second bit is fair. The first bit bonkers
Gordon admitted to driving without due care and attention at Cambridge Crown Court and was fined £120 and given nine points on his licence, the force said.
He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, police said.

Whatever else was going on with insurance, denials etc. that Audi was right up behind the Evoque in front of it and had no line of sight on a left hand bend.
I'd say they were culpable.
I'd say they were culpable.

Bottom line, without insurance or licence the rider shouldn't have been on the road. It's always going to be his fault.

PC Sarah Pride said: "I would like to thank witnesses who came forward and described Gordon's manner of driving in the moments leading up to the crash.

Yeah I'd guessed the bloke was an arsehole as he's in prison. Still looked like he didn't cause the crash though.Yorick wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:49 pm He's a very naughty boy...

Presume the Audi driver gets off as he probably maintained it wasn't him.

Re: What am I missing? Motorcycle crash
Just had a look at the vid.
I'm no accident investigator, but pretty sure that the bike was doing well in excess of the 30mph speed limit on that road when it collided with the audi.
If the audi driver said they checked ahead before they turned, and the road appeared clear, then they are golden as far as the law is concerned.
There was a reasonably famous case several years ago where a bloke pulled out of a junction and a bike went into the side of him and died. Police breathalysed the driver and he was over the limit.
The book was going to be thrown at him. However he maintained he didn't see the bike and something was amiss. The driver employed a private crash investigator, who deduced that the bike had been travelling at twice the limit at impact.
Still got done for DD10, but that was all.

Re: What am I missing? Motorcycle crash
The car should of stopped in his own lane until he could see the oncoming lane was clear. Then crossed. Not doing this caused the collision. Sorted.

This.
You can't expect someone to see you if you're doing double the speed limit, same as you can't expect to be able to stop before you hit their car, still doing at least about the speed limit.
