Sycamore Gap
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-66947040
If you don't want to visit the BBC, the big tree at Hadrians Wall in Northumberland, made famous in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, has been felled.
Ok, it's "just a tree". (some might say).
Others may disagree and feel emotionally bereft, the tree was in a fantastically photogenic position, and, by the looks of it, perfectly healthy.
What's your first reaction? Anger? Amusement? Cynicysm?
When/If the person(s) involved are found, what do you thing would/should happen?

Re: Sycamore Gap
Bafflement mostly. I'd not known of this tree's existence before and can't work out who benefits from it's being chopped down.

Re: Sycamore Gap
Prince of Thieves was a shit film and Kevin Costner a dreadful actor, but a bit much to take it out on a tree.

Why would anyone do that? Can't be the usual 'developers' - farmer/landowner? Youtuber?

Re: Sycamore Gap
I have to wonder why and even if the culprit/s are caught,I doubt there'd be much in the way of punishment.
It may only be a tree to a lot of folk, but as with all things which become iconic, the loss will be felt deeply by some.

Re: Sycamore Gap
I know the feeling. But that one, in that location; to chop that down is pure mindless vandalism.

Sycamore Gap: Boy, 16, arrested after Hadrian's Wall tree felled
