Surrey Hills E-Bike Meet: Oct sometime

Post by Mr Moofo »

Following on from the "Weeksy has a new toy" thread - it's time we had some sort of Southern Softies meet up at Peaslake. Now that we have all given up on Shaker bikes - it will probably be dominantly e-bikes - but all would be welcome.

Plus some @formula400 @Numnut will be a lot fitter than the rest of us.
@Count Steer has offered to run behind us, tapping on his tamborine, to make sure the e-bikers stick to 70 rpm or above cadence.

Date to be sorted out shortly - but looking obviously at a w/e .....

Any interest?

Yup we'll be in as long as it doesn't clash with an event.

@Count Steer has offered to sit in the Hurtwood Inn, nursing a full English and holding a bottle of Phyllosan to revive the arrivals and a hose to wash the mud off the muddy oafs.
EFA. :D

Oh yeah and if @Beancounter turns up he can pick up that waterproof courier's bag.

If the dates work yeah 😁👍

So long as there’s none of them half power e-bike wankers with us we have to wait for 😂😂

15th racing.... but 14th i can play... the boy wouldn't be out, which isn't a massive issue, i'm allowed a life too

21st we'd be a maybe as it's a Pearce uplift day, but he's currently not massively feeling the track as it's Bringewood and not his favourite... 22nd i can play.

Can do those dates, assume there's a premier inn nearby and there's trails ok for a novice on an ebike :)

That'll be me given the age of my e-bike.

The closest Premier Inn is Guildford North:

Blue cross is Walking Bottom car park where we're likely to meet.

The Hurtwood Inn in Peaslake is one of the closest B&Bs to the Hills and is only a few hundred meters from Walking Bottom car park:

Assuming we ride the same/similar trails to last time the trails are novice friendly in my opinion. Everything is rollable. There are a couple of small doubles but they are easy to avoid and rollable if you don't. One trail, El Capitan/Captain Clunk, finishes with a steep descent but it's pretty much a straight line through the trees.

These should give an idea of what the trails are like:

The location of that ^^^ Premier Inn is a bit meh.

I can do a bit of local research if people have a preference for type of place and a particular budget in mind. There's a few pubs with rooms in the area. Friends stayed at the pub in Coldharbour recently - I can ask what they thought of it. (Food at lunch was  ).

I stayed at the Hurtwood but it was umpteen years ago. IIRC it was the smallest Trust House Forte at the time.

Cheers for the invite, I didn't get a notification from the @. I can't do any weekend in October so probably have to count me out though.

I've got Twisted Oaks booked on the 8th Oct if anyone fancies it though...
