It will be October !
I need to be able to use my hand properly!
Perfect. Look forward to the thread. I'll bring the lad too, which of us gets the Orbea and which of us gets the Liv, I dunno.
You'll be on the Liv ...

When out at Hopton on the Liv at the weekend it was slightly marred by the lack of gears, brakes, suspension, dropper on the Embolden...
So he's done me the deal of a lifetime deal and it appears i now own this

It's going to be interesting as i still don't 'like' how the ones i've ridden actually ride. However this is the 'lighter' weight/power version so should in theory be closer than a full-fat to normal. I also have learned to appreciate 'time' and place with them. For example at Hopton, Bringewood, FoD there are times when the boy is uplifting/coaching and we only have a small window of time really to get it done, with a manual with all the best intentions in the world you can't just knock out 500m elevation in a quick time and get it done, well, not unless you're Pidock. Sure i can get up it on a manual, but so so much slower and taking more time obviously.
Totally agree mateweeksy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 7:13 amIt's going to be interesting as i still don't 'like' how the ones i've ridden actually ride. I still don't see much point to one where i live... but many weekends i'm not actually where i live, i'm out and about in places where i can ride other things.
The Orbea though has the right spec in terms of bouncers, with Fox 36 and a Float X, both of which i already really like, so that'll help me along there.
If you ride a full fat eMTB and use it in Boost/Turbo all the time, then yeah, the Shimano motors don't seem to like it... Go Bosch in that instance.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 3:13 pm https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topi ... t-12971846
Jeez, this thread isn't exactly inspiring confidence !
Pretty much sums me up I think. It'll be ace I'm sure. I may see if it warrants a 1 Deg headset changemboy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:27 pmIf you ride a full fat eMTB and use it in Boost/Turbo all the time, then yeah, the Shimano motors don't seem to like it... However, of all the brands using an EP8 motor or a derivative of it, collectively the Rises seem to have less problems than others... The lower state of tune in the motor seems to put it under less stress, and those buying the bikes are typically buying them because they don't want all of the assistance all of the time anyway...
I put a Reverse 10mm angle headset spacer on mine, effectively slackening it by 1/2 a degree.
yeah, rightweeksy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 6:44 pm Well now it really does appear I own an ebike of my own.

Riding this today was absolutely superb. It's so much poppier, reactive, compliant than the full fat ebikes I've ridden, it's doesn't steam roller trails like they do.
Along with that the power delivery is way more intuitive, when you do half a pedal stroke it's very gentle, whereas the big boys at times buck you with a surge of power.
Straight lines and trails it flies down, jumps are nice, massively impressed.
When we got back to the van I said "don't put it in your van, put straight into mine"
And that as they say, was that
