Goggles, vented?

Does venting make any difference to steaming up of goggles when off-road?

Anyone who knows me will understand that I really am asking for a friend

IME, from a loooong time ago, goggles always steam up, on or off road. The only solution is to remove the eye lens bit.

They looked quite cool pushed up on the helmet though.

I've never had goggles steam up. We ride 4 or 5 hours every week.

You could give skiing lenses a try, they're vented & double glazed.

I had a pair of purple/pink Oakley MX/Ski Goggles (that I wore with my very pink Georges Jobe helmet) never had them steam up... why would they, they don't enclose your mouth or nose?

I found the best solution for steamy goggles was to get some that seal round your eyes really well, they won't be especially comfortable, but they won't steam up. From memory expensive Oakleys were better than expensive Scotts, anything cheap was just shit.

Mate's in S France.

I have a pair of these for driving. They're fairly snug.

Yebut, this was back in the 1960s, and my goggles were the extreme el-cheapo end of the range. IIRC they had leather eye mask area backed with sponge, so when it rained (or I sweated) the sponge would soak up moisture and release it inside the eye cups. Not the most brilliant design.

Tried every pair of goggles known to man back in my paintballing days, double glazed, vented, the lot, all failed to prevent misting.
Handily JT make, or made, a fan unit that clips on their goggles that could be set to push or pull configuration, worked a treat

I use 100% OTG (over the glasses) goggles, never had my glasses steam up even in rain.

This problem doesn’t exist anymore, since Rflow System made the MT4 and Next google. You should ask your local dealer about it, it’s astonishing how well it work.

This for me too- I've got 4 or 5 pairs of goggles, including Oakley and Scott, and for years persevered with treating them with every type of anti-fogging gunk ivented but as soon as I got hot and sweaty ( usually doesn't take long for me on a lot of the lanes we do) and particularly when it's raining / damp, they'd all still steam up to a greater or lesser extent- I bought a pair of 100% ones relatively recently, have never wiped any form of gunk inside them and never had any issue since so 100% get a big from me too
