What is it with motor and motorcycle dealers? Do they think the law doesnt apply to them?

If you could not have detected it before sale, and you were not told about it before sale, you have a 12 month warranty. By law.

I doubt they'll reset the warranty. It's doing what it's supposed to do, cover a breakdown.

Citizens Advice website.

There are limits on remedies so it IS complicated, but you cannot 'agree' to less than your rights enshrined in law. So most '6 month warranties' are pretty worthless, most try to kid you that beyond 6 months you have zero rights. That is just plain untrue.

On a slightly tangential note, I’ve got a 21 Nissan Navara which recently developed some unknown fault which illuminated the engine management light. After two attempts to fix it the local Nissan dealer have decided that the only way forward is to put a whole new engine in!
