Car advice sought; 1 series convertibles?

My Sister is after a newer car and it has to be a convertible. Due to the amount of crap she carries about, I said a ragtop will probably have the best boot space and it looks like the BMW 1 series has one of the largest boots. Anyone had one of these 1 series, convertible or fixed roof? I guess the relucter ring problems apply to these but anything else to look out for? FWIW, its has to be ULEZ convertible and she'd prefer a petrol and it doesn't need to be a bigger/faster engined one.

Any other convertibles fit the bill?

Mrs has an 2014 SLK, boot is pretty good and enough for a weeks shopping. They do a petrol in this or the facelift SLC.we’ve had it 4 years and it’s been faultless.

Got a 2016 Z4, touch wood never missed a beat in the year I’ve had it, reasonable boot until the roof is down then not a lot of room.
Easy to drive but like all convertibles it’s a bit bumpy on the roads round the village.. proper roads it handles fine.
Looked at a 2 series, which I think you mean, convertible but hated the drive, comfort and driving position.
Probably no help other than the reliability bit.

The better half has a 120 saloon, great car it's like a mini version of the mighty 335!
Loads of boot space, BMW build quality / nice interior and the looks have grown on me (I hated the front end at first).
The 2l is decent on fuel and pretty pokey - the 118 is reasonable too (same engine) but the 116 is pants, although you can get 120 performance on either with a remap.

Decent motor, certainly much more reliable than the 1 series in petrol form.

It was comfy, I really enjoyed driving it, like someone said above, it was really like a mini 3 series. I think he was actually a bit gutted to see it go.

Not wanting to derail the thread, I know the looks divide people, but it's an absolute cracker, fast, comfy, handles well, the interior has really been worked on and is now really nice, great spec. It really is a lovely car. He's a very lucky 21 yr old!! (I do prefer my 540 xdrive msport tourer mind you )

Wife used to have a Beetle. If I used it, i'd get into the car, launch flower into the back seat. Wife would get into the car, moan at me for doing so and i'd have to buy a new flower. In the end I learnt to live with it as it was cheaper that way!

Loads of the younguns at work have 135s, A35s, i30Ns, Focus STs etc. With PCP you can get a well flash motah, it seems to par for the course now when you get your first "real" job.
