I applied online for a new passport. You can track the process online, here's the summary so far:

Application history

Passport printed 10:56pm on 31 August 2023
Application approved 4:53am on 31 August 2023
Documents received 8:58am on 30 August 2023
Application received 3:43pm on 25 August 2023
Application submitted 3:42pm on 25 August 2023

Not the sort of efficiency I expected from a government department, I was expecting several weeks.

I like the idea that somebody was working on approving my passport application at ten to five in the morning. :D

They need to find the scissors to cut the corner off the old one too, and scissors are bested only by lighters when it comes to going missing.

New passport arrived today. That's less than a week week from submitting the application on line to receiving the new passport. And Monday was a public holiday.

What is this country coming to when you can't even complain about a government department dragging their heels? :D

Didn't the passport office go on strike for some absurdly long time this year too?

A few years ago I renewed mine from here. Was bloody impressed that it took about 2 weeks from sending the application to getting the passport here in France!

(The Irish one was quicker tho!! LOL)

I'd heard loads of times about the 2 stroke noise, but I had no idea they said "Yeaaaah!" as you pulled away.

That’s getting me going tbh. Sounds like a bag of nails and then suddenly that intoxicating super smooth scream…

Pure music.

Will come in handy as a landing pad. They hadn't invented handling (or braking) back then...

Near the end of the month is their time. I've one to do at the back too. That'll be a day wasted. :(

I had a hanging tile come off the house a few weeks back. I've been meaning to pop into a builders' merchant to get a pack, even though I only need one. Walking the dog yesterday I saw one laying on the pavement. I picked it up and took it home, measured it and bugger me if it isn't the right size and almost a perfect colour match.

Woohoooo

Nope - WOOOOO blooming HOOOOOOO :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Got an email from the driving licence agency over here today, asking me to send my UK licence :bblonde: :bblonde:

After a year of sending various documents (and just failing to interact as it was just one more thing stressing me out!) to prove that my legal name is the name on both passports, the uk driving licence and two french official cards that I'd sent copies of!! They still wanted my birth certificate (which is all but useless now as has the wrong name on it!!)

But - looks like I'll be Frenched up in a few weeks :bblonde: :bblonde: (although the photo I sent them for the licence is diabolical!!)

(Downside now is that I'll have to be even more careful about cameras as now I'll loose points AND have a fine!!!)
