Edit - Viñales, not Bastianini...
Bez appeared to think differently.
Oh, I'm aware! :)

No surprises, all you needed to watch was the first 10 seconds to know the result.

Bagnaia is bloody fast, but I'm finding it hard to warm to him. Maybe also with Brad Binder. Neither have a great personality.

But that's just me :D

Bagnaia reminds me of a two wheel version of Alain Prost - can't fault his speed and racing brain, but not what you'd call flamboyant.

Binder is just a happy relaxed Saffa. Glad to be racing and enjoying the life. He is not a "bad boy" personality, just laid back and takes things in. At least he is hard working in his ethic and tends to thank his team and supporters frequently.

It wasn't the best spectator spectacle ever.

I had the exact same thought on Sunday. A minor nose break with a dodgy re-setting would seal the deal.

That's properly committed considering how off-camber that corner is.

I read somewhere, years ago, that the best racers are a bit dull. There brain stays calm at ridiculous speed and moments of danger, giving them more brain power to cope with everything.

Eddie Lawson and Schumacker spring to mind. Awesome, but not great for the excitable fan.

But Rea was same in WSB and others caught up and surpassed him.

Steady Eddie was one of my heroes in the 80s and early 90s. He had a very dry sense of humour which a lot of people didn't get.

I was doing the photos for Superbike magazine in 1985 at the Silverstone GP and the weather was atrocious on race day, so much so that I retreated back to the press room before the race ended just to get out of the rain. That meant I was able to listen to Chris Carter doing the post race interviews with the guys on the podium. Freddie Spencer won the race fairly comfortably with Lawson second and Christian Sarron half a minute back in third.

Chris Carter was his normal gushy self and Freddie duly obliged by thanking his team, his mechanics, his family, his sponsors, God, his cat and anyone else he could think of, while Eddie was quietly simmering off to one side.

Eventually it was Eddie's turn and Chris tried to ingratiate himself by saying 'well Eddie, I guess that puts to bed the old saying that Americans can't race when it rains?'

Eddie replied 'yeah, us Americans are shit in the wet'

And that was all he said.

Chris Carter didn't know where to put himself and very quickly passed on to Sarron...

The Moto3 race was the best of the day.
