Re: Silly Season is Starting
He wasn’t even trying for an outright fast lap, no time attacks as he states.
As for the winning in WSBK it’s because of the perfect combination with him and the V4R, everything from his light weight, riding style, ability and the bike, the way he can conserve the rear tyre better than anyone else and put in fast laps towards the end when the fuel load has reduced down when everyone else is starting to taper off.

Pretty damn good when you think of all the extra buttons, the ride height bollox and stuff that wasn't there when he last rode a GP bike. They are a different animal and the wee man is fast. 40 is too old to bag a regular ride in the Ducati cup,but he can be well proud of himself.Yorick wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 4:22 pm Bautista just had a test on the Ducati MotoGP bike....
Bautista's best lap time from the test at Misano was a 1’32.590, and the lap record at Misano is a 1'31.868. It is clear to see that Bautista has gelled back to the MotoGP machine very quickly!
Just checked and that time would have put him 10th in qualifying for last year's race. Wowsers....
Wonder if he might fancy a switch over
But maybe will shut up all the folk who say he only wins in WSB coz he's so light. He can ride a bike rather well

Re: Silly Season is Starting
It is an impressive lap time, especially considering how much MotoGP bikes have changed but wasn't it raining a bit in Quali at Misano last year?

Dani Pedrosa is 9 Kgs lighter

And that's why he always went fasterer than Bautista when they were both in MotoGP

Re: Silly Season is Starting
Blimey. Mega Mega news.
Honda will let MM leave at end of year.
I know Ducati have played it cool, but surely it's best to keep your enemies close as the saying goes?
KTM and Aprilia will be on to their accountants to see how much they will pay.
Acosta is the new MM. But MM is still MM
Contracts could be paid off.
Could be fun.

Re: Silly Season is Starting
Why would anyone employ him, he crashes and whinges, Ducati don't need him, maybe KTM or Aprillia are desperate enough to offer him a ride?

That's as fishy as a reply from IccyLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:51 pm Why would anyone employ him, he crashes and whinges, Ducati don't need him, maybe KTM or Aprillia are desperate enough to offer him a ride?

Re: Silly Season is Starting
I guess it all depends on whether MM is prepared to accept a serious drop in earnings to sign on with a rival. No-one will offer to match or even get close to what MM is earning at Honda. Paying him megabucks would completely destabilise a (non-Honda) team's wage structure.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Like Rossi, he'll earn mega bucks for life from merchandise.
Maybe a lesser paid ride for one year will be a good choice.
He's proved beyond all doubt that he just wants to win.

Re: Silly Season is Starting
Yes, his earnings from merch will soften the blow if he does take a serious pay cut. I still think he'd prefer to stay with Honda if they can put a halfway decent bike underneath him. But I think MM has just shown the first big cracks in his previously impenetrable armour. He stressed it was purely for physical reasons that he wouldn't contest MotoGP on Sunday at Assen, but I'd say it's his mental state which is completely shot. Running into the back of Enea because he wasn't looking where he was going speaks of a mind in meltdown.
I wouldn't make any predictions one way or another until we can see what his mental state is at Silverstone, and also whether Honda have made some steps towards fixing the RCV. At present it seems about half a second a lap off the pace.

Ducati, the choice of champions. I don't blame Mir,Rins or Marquez for wanting out. Not only can they not win on a Honda,it puts them in hospital when they try.

Re: Silly Season is Starting
Mir can't finish a race, MM can't finish a race and Rins has a mangled leg. All cos of the bike. Honda have 2 world champs on their bikes and yet are no where. Honda need to sort their shit out regardless of whatever is the case with MM. Who in Moto2 wants the Honda ride really?
Same for Yamaha TBH.
Funny thing is when you look at things currently you suspect the top placed Japanese manufacturer if they hadn't of pulled out would have been Suzuki

At least the Yam isn't trying to throw its riders off, it's just slow (comparatively). Fabio to Honda would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire...

Zarco confirmed at LCR Honda. I suppose it was either that or retirement.

Re: Silly Season is Starting
It will be retirement. Remember the debacle when he couldn't get on with the KTM? The Honda is a whole nother ballgame.
